It was in the Grassmarket area, just up from where After 8 used to be x

near Glasgow

Blackfriars changed to being a gastro pub pre-covid and lost a bunch if its regulars.

Current owner has put ut up for sale instead of re-opening

Greyfriars is Edinburgh. I've now remembered the name of the pub across from the club, it's called Footlights x
