I'm a big movie fan and like other fans I hate it when they remake old films especially when they talk about bringing back old classics, but are there any old films out there that could actually work well being brought back and modernized? If so what movie and why?

I reckon a good one would be a little film called hackers. It was made when people didn't really know what the internet was and the way that they hack and the graphics used is a little funny "probably pretty cool when it was made". But now that technology has improved it could bring this film a new audience, using smartphones to hack the planet

Garbagepail Kids would be epic for children now with the changes in technology and ofcourse the current focus on individuality and how being different isn’t a bad thing.

I really like The Rocks’s remake of Jumanji (on tomorrow night I think) and White Chicks which was based on one of my all time fave oldie movies Some Like It Hot

Pretty much any film can be remade, the key is the quality of what you do.

As always there will different views on re-makes depending on individual tastes and any attachments people have to the original.

Very true, same goes for sequels

My favourite memory of Hackers was a retrospective review written about a year later in SFX. When talking about the cast, it said, "... and Angelina Jolie, who sadly was never heard from again."

My personal nomination for a film that's crying out to be remade today would be 1957's black comedy "The Naked Truth." A bunch of celebrities individually plot to murder a newspaper editor who's threatening them with exposés. That could be a whole series right now.

The final scene with Jack Lemon always makes me laugh! Brilliant movie and white chicks is pretty good. The scene with Terry Cruz in the car singing to “I need you, I want you” is also soooo funny

Yeah TV series are the big thing now for remaking old movies plus got the add a lot of grey, less colour and have it be a lot more serious and gritty!

Why don't Hollywood stop being lazy and come up with something that isn't an old movie, a book or a comic book?

One of favourite cult films, but I think a remake would rely on CGI and it would lose something

I thought the lethal weapon tv series was on par with the movies until damon wayans spat the dummy out and got jealous about the attention and acclaim clayne Crawford got for the way he portrayed riggs and got him killed off at end of season 2

The 90s TV series was a must view for me and my dad. It's on prime or Netflix now and looks even more tired than the film sometimes

I'm happy for any film to be remade, but I particularly love same cast appearances!

I did quite like the lion king but still preferred the old animated version. I was so disappointed in the jungle book and Christopher Walken totally ruined the oohbeedoo song which is one of my all time favourite songs.

There's a new Ghostbusters coming out at the end of the year which I was kinda hesitant about after the disastrous one we got a few years back, but this one at least has a story that ties in with the original

Im sure someone could do airwolf again but would it ruin the cheesy cult classic the original was (still one of the best tv theme tunes ever)

And i saw there is a remake of the equalizer starting next week on one of the sky channels
