Edinburgh

Any recommendations for safe, secluded open water swimming locations?

Ideally,not too far from Edinburgh.

Not planning on swimming alone.

Hey man, there's pretty much always folk swimming down next to the Granton breakwater, especially in the mornings I think. I'd be happy to join you for a swim some time when I'm back down in Edinburgh.

Lot of people swim at porty - there's a sepa water quality guide you can find online which will tell you how things look each day. East section of the beach is the cleaner.

Other than that, there are beaches further east like Longniddry which are good for a swim, or you could head up to the pentlands to threipmuir reservoir, or into Midlothian where gladhouse is pretty popular

Thanks for the responses.

I know some of these sites, from a triathlon friend.

I was thinking somewhere more secluded.

"Gladhouse is where my friend swims "

Just Googled it. That's a great suggestion.

Might take a spin down on the bike and check it out.

Thank you.
