Anyone else frustrated trying to arrange a night away ? Can find hotel but trying to book places for dinner and drinks is difficult . So bored looking now . Are people just going hotels for db&b and fun . Had thought trying to find things as far out as 5/6 would have been ok but no it definitely isn’t !,

We got on the train into Edinburgh during the day but it was really difficult to get booked in anywhere.

The weather was nice as well so it was busy.

We are staying in some of our favourite country estate hotels that are quiet local to us in the Borders, no problems, but we are staying within the hotel and grounds as the hotel has a pool and spa facilities, so no problems. We stayed in Edinburgh a couple of weeks ago and found it incredibly difficult, didn't enjoy it at all, so staying places we know & enjoy for the time being

Edinburgh does look impossible so thinking a nice hotel is the easiest , north or south. Any recommendations please PM x

Plenty nice hotels in Edinburgh, Aberdeen, Newcastle. The only problem is having to book tables for drink etc.

Prices for self catering rentals in the summer have gone through the roof. Getting quotes of £300 to £400 more for 7 days than in 2019

Many tourists up in the nortg are booking several tables and then just going to the one they feel like at the time. Leaving many businesses half empty despite full bookings.

"Many tourists up in the nortg are booking several tables and then just going to the one they feel like at the time. Leaving many businesses half empty despite full bookings. "

We manged to get a place due to this. One place we went to asked us to sit outside for 30 mins and said if nobody shows we could have the booking.

I think most pubs have a 30 min holding slot before reallocating it to someone else.
