How do people feel about winks? Is it a good tester, see if a full message is called for, or just a annoying waste of email?

I go back and forth using them and always feel I should of sent an actual message.

Shangri-la

Don't really look at winks and I never send them, if I'm interested then I will send a message, other people do use winks though.

they are a good start to showing your interest if the person doesn't respond then assume they aint interested but if they do then it was worth doing

I like them.

If I like the profile IL wink back.

Starts a conversation.

If I don't. I ignore and hope they take that as a not interested

We can't stand them.

They are just plain lazy in our opinion.

Sometimes feel it’s the only option with profiles that are really bare. Ones that don’t give you any idea of what to say.

why lazy?

If I was a guy I'd defo be winking rather than sending long winded messages to profiles that don't reply?

He looks at your profile writes a message involving things on your profile and he can still get deleted without a reply or at best a no thanks.

Winks are an ice breaker

Sure but just because you’ve discovered the deco word some people use doesn’t mean you earned a reply. I imagine some profiles get hundreds of messages. Many of them little more than “want smash”

Everyone has their own opinion and that is fair enough.

If someone wants to make themselves known to us, then a short message takes about 10 seconds.

If they can't even be bothered to do that then they are of no interest to us.

Better than a wink.

But even before messaging we would hope people put a little time into reading our profile.

If we don't match, what is the point of messaging or winking?

What’s the point of starting a thread then leaving the site?

Whats the point if asking the op the question when you know he's left the site ?
