Im sorry if I speak out of turn, but it really seems as if we are died. They're seems to be no life about the place, quite happy to take whatever anyone has to say.

"It’s now at the point that there isn’t any ‘new’ chat. No one is doing anything interesting. And if they are they shouldn’t be "

This is basically what I've been saying in chat.

People can't get out and do different or exciting things, so there's nothing new or interesting to talk about.

We're all currently living a Groundhog Day life.

Maybe Mrs Doggy a tiny wee bit, but the main losses, in my opinion, are Sn00py, with his wit and wisdom, and good old Auntie Vax herself, Sexmadwifey, with her succinct medical advice and ability to bring out the best in everyone's favourite pantomime villain.

If it wasn't for folk trying to be top forum posters and knobheads trying to belittle folk or god forbid not see the funny side of things and getting folks permanent bans then maybe folk would start posting again.

How do you distinguish between someone actively participating in the posts and somebody trying to be top poster

I think the forums go through phases of being busy or being quiet, being entertaining or being grumpy.

I don't believe the Scottish forum has ever been a very welcoming and friendly place. In particular for new people or anyone who may dare to have a different point of view from others.

Maybe there is a bit of fab fatigue too or maybe people are bored of looking at screens.

As with most things, you get what you put in..

After 12/15 years on here, under several guises, the whole site is quiet, imho.

Ok, meeting is out at the moment, but what's wrong with chatting and optimistically arranging for when we can meet again. Ramp up the anticipation!!

Because that would take effort , lots of people don't want to put in the effort which then has a domino effect. Result, fab gets boring , forums get tiresome, moods go down and the well, here we are.

Depends on what you mean by forum.

do I feel its "lacking" yes in my opinion scotland forums is governed by a band of think alike socialites who "gang up" on users with a different opinion to theirs.

There's parts I can't mention as it would be against site rules as I've found out to my peril never question the overlords or the following harpies

As outsiders who don’t use the Scottish forum looking in, we think the main issue with the Scottish forum, and likely the same with other regional forums, is that’s its very insular and clique and not very welcoming to strangers of the group. This is by no means a criticism more an observation

Tend to be on Scottish chat room on Fridays and sundays for the quiz rather than on forum regularly; just tend to do it as more a catch-up medium.

I don't post much in here but when I do a couple of things bug me. More often than not some smartarse hijacks the thread and changes topic. A recent thread about escorts suddenly turned into a thread about cars. This thread is another example as it seemed to turn into a song association thread. Also when posting on here I seem to get so many messages about the post when the point of the forum is to have discussion in the thread.

I personally think its OK for threads to take different tangents and it just takes the OP to say something topic related to get it back on track most times.

I think there’s a few factors that impact the quality of the forum and most have been mentioned above. For me the bit that sends me off to other forums is the political rants that are more prevalent now due to COVID. I appreciate that everyone is entitled to their political opinion but I don’t come on here for politics I come on for a laugh and some good banter which the political topics are severely lacking. I chose not to read them now but when you come in to the Scotland forum and the top topics are majority political, I go elsewhere.

I know this is my choice too.

Well rounded answer and well said. As I've been saying for some time, I'm sure that's why the politcal forum was created because it was being carried over into other threads and people found it off putting. Threads going off at tangents can be fun and interesting but politics, religion and football are the three things people can rarely discuss amicably

is it fair to push things to other areas though?

I'd say at least 70% of what's in the scottish forum does not conform with what the word forum Is defined as.

It's been written in the past if you don't like don't read surely this statement should go both ways if you don't like politics football or religion don't look.

What one person sees as open debate another sees as argumentative what some see as a bit of fun and a laugh others see as childish and cringe inducing.

I'd agree in principle but the reality is the "banter" is rarely there. It generally descends into bickering and often real aggression. My point is that the site made a seperate forum because many other users found it off putting on the main forum. Personally if you can communicate like an adult, not resort to name calling and present a reasoned argument, I'm all ears on most topics (preferably with a dash of humour)

PS Hows the dic pics coming along (no pun intended)

have to be a mental image I'm afraid I barely look even when peeing

I'd say banter isn't everything and a fiery debate can be fun for some folk. I agree name calling other users is not a great thing but it's part and parcel of life which should reflect through a forum. By the same maxim not everyone is sweetness and light all the time no matter what they claim

"I think there’s a few factors that impact the quality of the forum and most have been mentioned above.

Threads going off at tangents can be fun and interesting but politics, religion and football are the three things people can rarely discuss amicably is it fair to push things to other areas though?

I'd say at least 70% of what's in the scottish forum does not conform with what the word forum Is defined as.

It's been written in the past if you don't like don't read surely this statement should go both ways if you don't like politics football or religion don't look.

What one person sees as open debate another sees as argumentative what some see as a bit of fun and a laugh others see as childish and cringe inducing.

Totally agree,

"

I also agree gents there are always alternative views. Mine is if it's political put it on the right forum

"It’s now at the point that there isn’t any ‘new’ chat. No one is doing anything interesting. And if they are they shouldn’t be

This is basically what I've been saying in chat.

People can't get out and do different or exciting things, so there's nothing new or interesting to talk about.

We're all currently living a Groundhog Day life.

Yep, I've said the same to lots of people. There's only so many times you can make the same smalltalk. It'll no doubt pick up again once the wider world does.

That’s the action I’ve taken now as you’re quite right with the ‘don’t like, don’t look’ statement. I’ve now chosen not to look.

It’s quite difficult in the written word of a forum though to accurately get a read on whether someone is having a bit of fun or they’re being argumentative or anything else. Thankfully we’ve now got emoji’s to help

Scottish forum has been bland at best for months, like others have said, lockdown has meant we are generally not doing the things that interest us, and so we aren’t talking about them either, once ‘normal’ returns I’m sure it will improve. It’s got to, right???

Hopefully some of the regulars that have gone awol will also return

Anyone’s looking for me I’ll be in ma bubble

I know things are tough for everyone but if we don’t all at least try to keep each other’s spirits up then... that’s kinda sad I think. Even if there’s not much going on, it’s important to be positive, even if is a bit Groundhog Day. It won’t always be like this and there’s a lot of hope out there

I left the site for a while due to this and tag team bullying at one point. I now keep my swinging circle very private and don’t really participate here any more. I would do my own searching if meeting though wouldn’t meet under the covid restrictions No, it’s not the same site anymore.

Just my perception...there used to be more humour and interaction. It's always been a difficult place to break into but I wouldn't have said it was so hostile and unwelcoming as it is now. I don't remember the same level of "ganging up". I will admit though that certain individuals have always used it to discredit others. I've been on the receiving end myself many times in the past but it's only a forum on a swinging site so not worth getting in a fankle over. I do remember great fun times however.

As previously said by many there’s a confrontational element that gets wearying. Many no longer post because they feel intimidated or just plain put off by bickering. That’s not to say lively debate isn’t welcome, it is and should be both enlightening and informative, fun even. However when it descends into name calling and often passive aggressive bullying then a lot of people feel they either intimidated or just can’t be bothered with the angst. Most of us come here to enjoy relaxing and fun interaction. There, I’ve got that off my chest... and it’s a BIG chest

Ohhhh almost forgot .... only MY opinion of course (others are available)

I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that most posts end up in a political bitch fest!

I don't mind a healthy debate about things but when there are half a dozen threads that have all gone the same direction then you tend to stop bothering to look at them.

You better watch kola , rookie will be along in a minute telling you if something on a swinger site is annoying you then its you that has a problem.

Ps would love to know who the smiling assassins are that you speak of.

It's like using sayings like institutional racism.

You can't fight against

Ghosts, show me examples of racism and I will stand beside you and fight it, tell us who these mythical smiling assassins are and I will stand beside you to call them out.

How can you stand against a ghost , how do we overcome smiling assassins when they only exist in opinions and your imaginations.

"I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that most posts end up in a political bitch fest!

I don't mind a healthy debate about things but when there are half a dozen threads that have all gone the same direction then you tend to stop bothering to look at them.

Just my opinion though

I agree there but in regard to the political debates... there is a political forum started because it often gets too heated so I do think admin should enforce that more. Just my opinion though. it's really a Scottish thing also though the rest of the world doesn't want or understand the politics of Scotland you could also make the case for almost every post to be moved help with my profile... Why am I getting no meets= off to introductions so on so fourth "

It’s not so much about posts being categorised more that the ones that tend to create very negative comments are. Politics, football and religion usually.

I do, I just think people coming onto a forum and claiming the forums are full of backstabbing and smiling assassins do nothing to enhance the site. Any new people reading that would never venture in.

To get away from the comment he plays the name and shame card. Just my opinion but openly shouting about backstabbing and mythical smiling assassins is just as bad as name and shame.

How do you know this kola , rumour , pm , are you part of the crowd ? Not accusing you of anything bud but curious as to how you came by this revelation about the site.

"For those of us who weren't around when things were "Different"whats the change? The Pandemic?or is it more than that? What are us Newbies missing out on ?

Just my perception...there used to be more humour and interaction. It's always been a difficult place to break into but I wouldn't have said it was so hostile and unwelcoming as it is now. I don't remember the same level of "ganging up". I will admit though that certain individuals have always used it to discredit others. I've been on the receiving end myself many times in the past but it's only a forum on a swinging site so not worth getting in a fankle over. I do remember great fun times however. "

thanks for such an in depth reply, hopefully most people will see reason and enjoy this for what it is?thanks

Not really owning your words but that's just my opinion. Will leave it there , don't want to sound argumentative.

Ohhhh almost forgot .... only MY opinion of course (others are available) "

Appreciate your reply thanks i have noticed a bit of politics and snarling at each other mb we will calm down once we get out of our cages!Glad you got it off your Big chest i hadn't noticed in the 6 times i looked at your profile! Thanks again .

My dear Zest, you know very well the site does not allow naming and shaming lol and for good reason.

Not accusing you of anything bud but curious as to how you came by this revelation about the site. your choice to believe it or not I don't need to justify anything to you I own my words

But your not really owning your words are you. You make a very derogatory comment about some users on the forums then when asked how you know this you say you don't need to justify your comments. Not really owning your words but that's just my opinion. Will leave it there , don't want to sound argumentative.

Passes Zest the popcorn and asks what song he wants on next

Any slow song of your choosing my dear Flirt , as long as your slow dancing it with me then I'm easy.

Ps if you stem on my toes or spill my popcorn it's back to the corner for you "baby". "

Hahaha I’ll do my best but I’ve got three left feet so no promises... (hate that film btw, no idea what folk see in it... I’d do Kola’s eye thing rather than watch it lol)

"I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that most posts end up in a political bitch fest!

I don't mind a healthy debate about things but when there are half a dozen threads that have all gone the same direction then you tend to stop bothering to look at them.

Just my opinion though

Nope I agree Cede lol two sides to a coin is all I will say here. there's a type of post that I find rather annoying to others its the be all and end all. I will agree the name calling is terrible I'd also say at least that name calling is done in public it would surprise many to hear the backstabbing that goes on with the smiling assasins

"Do we think it can be saved though....? "

If a high percentage of new people were to start using the forums then in my opinion yes, otherwise no!

Some people remember the past through rose tinted glasses, there has ALWAYS been individuals who have used the forums to belittle others, to deliberately cause offence, to cause trouble to others and to be downright confrontational. But there were way more users in years gone by so there were more varied posts and a lot more laughter!

Now I rarely post for a number of reasons, I can read the title of a post and by whom it is written and almost certainly know who will respond and what that response will be.

Then there are the self proclaimed nice guys of the forums who claim to always be gentlemen and act so hard done by when nobody wants to meet them (I have a single profile and the messages I have had when I have said no thanks to them have been off the scale).

The fact once you have had a permanent ban from the forums for clearly overstepping the mark on so many occasions yet you are able to come back under a different guise and continue to deliberately provoke people on what is supposed to be an adult site is beyond belief.

Then there are the posts in which people interact well and a healthy debate is taking place and someone posts absolute nonsense and then their buddy responds with equal drivel and before you know it the posts is taken over with a few folk having a conversation about something as stupid as what cake they prefer! These as always are only my opinions.

The end is nigh. Let's just hope it's not the end of the Scottish forum. It's up to us to save it for future generations...( fuck no, that's the planet I was thinking of). Let's just try to stay civil and keep posting
