Random question. Anywhere to learn how to fish and where to go? The wee man is eager to learn and i havnt a clue.

Google fishing in your area, lots of local clubs or people that can help you, they like new members to join and will guide and help you.

What kind of fishing?

Sea, coarse or game?

Game is a matter of going to a good fishery. Many teach. Some have coarse and bait ponds.

Sea usually requires finding a club or a friendly fisherman.

Once lockdown is over of course.

Local to Paisley but 45 mkns drive would be fine. Was thinking game fishing to start us both off slowly

There is a fishing club in Barrhead with two ponds. Neilston has at least one fishery and the owners are all keen to teach newcomers.

Good to know people are keen to teach as my youngest did fishing with the primary school and is keen to continue so will look some local ones up.

River t in peebles, esk and reservoirs.

Sea fishing in Gran Canaria which was good.

I learnt to disk from my grandad, stayed off with spinning and bait fishing mainly on rivers but went from that to fly fishing, he used to get me casting on the path to practice people used to look a bit puzzled when they walked past....

It really depends on what you choose to do spinning and bait are pretty straight forward so you could buy a cheap ticket and go down to a river you'll be able to see how it's done just by watching videos on YouTube.

Fly fishing has a bit more of a knack to it but some fisheries do lessons so would recommend that good luck!

Oban and hire a boat ,ask where fish are being caught and it pretty easy,took my son up caught a fair few ,and he still fishes,30 years later ,s we still go to oban when we can

I’ve been fishing here for ages, not sure if it’s my technique, tackle or bait but not getting many bites. My advice would be of no use!

Newmills close to you and its easy catching so it keeps all interested

Thanks all. Tried fly fishing hooked my cheek. Headed out to sea. Got d*unk with a mate... Bad idea. Think we'll just head to the farms and try that lol

I have fished since I was about 7. Feel free to ask any questions. My advice would be to try mackerel fishing first. Easy to catch and good to learn how to cast and unhook. Always have an element of conservation and you'll be fine.
