I’d try introducing the topic in a fun way as in exploring fantasies. There was a programme on channel four last night about a swinging club, or even watching something like naked attraction together can open up conversation about exploring sexuality and testing the water. "OP just wait till you catch him eyeing up some totty, ( all guys do it ) . Then make a joke about it . Start a conversation about hall passes for a birthday gift or something joky like that. Gauge his reaction then if good reaction bring it up a few days later. Ie , remember we were laughing when we spoke about hall passes, it got me thinking about swinging sites...........
