Now on my next birthday i will be a ( young 56yr old single guy , not long now ) . But what i have noticed is i am getting very forgetful ie ( used tape measure today ) and now i cant remember where i put it .

Now i am a routine type off guy and there is a place for everything and everything in its place so i would normally go looking for this item or others in it's place but i have started to noticed items are appearing in different places or i can't find them anywhere and then i am doubting myself ie ( maybe thrown out in bin ) and i go order more to find out later i find items .

Could go on longer but will keep it short .

So what is members thoughts about said subject and i do expect the unusal comments and i have vroad shoulders but lets say worried.

Do i seek medical adivce or put down to a young 56yr old getting on in age

It's when you don't know what the tape measure is for you start to worry.

In all seriousness make a telephone appointment with your GP and discuss it with him or her, I wouldn't be asking for a diagnosis on fab.

Maybe its in your boxers next to your c**k sorry couldnt resist .

I wouldnt worry about it as we all get a little forgetful as we get older however if its causing you real concern or your family think something isn't quite right with you then go get checked over by your gp

Don't talk with the doctor the first thing he will do is contact dvla and you will need to go for a driving test to see if you are fit to drive I know someone who's been sent to do the retest in paisley

Speak to your gp if you are concerned. I'm not saying that it is anything to worry about, but the earlier they can identify if there is a problem the more they can potentially do to help. My mum suffered from early onset vascular dementia.

This isn't the case.

Yes, if it were to be a diagnosis of dementia, there would rightly be a time where it would be necessary to establish if the person is safe to drive or not, but it certainly isn't the first thing a GP will do.

I know someone who's wife said to the doctor he's getting very forgetful and he was contacted by someone who asked him loads of questions over and over and they took his licence off him till he went to sit a driving test at paisley.

All because his wife made the comment to the doctor the guy had to wait for ages to get his licence back

You can ask to be referred to a memory clinic for a test if worried. People much younger than you are getting diagnosed with dementia these days.

If it's gotten to a point where it's a worry for you, go see your doctor. There are treatments that can massively slow down the progress of that rotten condition, so no harm in getting yourself checked out.

No doubt you're fine though, I go scatterbrain on occasion as well. Just pondering over other stuff will make you put things in a different place sometimes x
