Well heard just recently tgat Cineworld are looking at ahutting ther Cinemas and the rearson i heard was down to the new James Bind movie being put back to spring before getting released .

Now there must be more than 1 flim supporting Cinemas so do you think its a bit drastic that there thinking off doing this . Answers on a postcard pls

It just isn't that one film, read the article in the evening standard and there are other film releases being put back to May 2021. It is also to do with the financial rules and to comply and stay open they need to raise more funding which will not be easy in these times.

Sorry to hear it as it is another bit of our previously normal life being taken away.

Cinemas days are numbered imo in this country the pricing is madness in comparison to other country's not to mention the late release dates here.

It's probably not viable for them to stay open at the moment.

Hubby and I went to see the new Bill & Ted film a few weeks, and including us there were 11 people in.

And that's only one screen. If they were all like that it'll cost them more to keep them open than they'll make.

I'm glad I went to see the film, but in all honesty it was weird being there and I'm in no hurry to go back x

Some classics out there i would happily go back to the cinema to watch, reduce the prices for entry, reduce the sweets ,drinks and popcorn prices so they still make just enough profits to keep it viable . No reason to close , just make it an attractive option and keep profits to a minimum for 6 months then step it back up when things improve.

Cinema (whether classics or new films) is too expensive.

Likewise for food. We just take food bought elsewhere in with us but would happily buy it there if it wasn't a complete rip off.

That said, I'm sad to see Cineworld shutting down and especially sad for their employees. Meanwhile Sturgeon is talking about more lockdown measures...

While it’s a dreadful bit of news for the frontline workers I can’t say it will be missed by me.

It’s far too dear and quite frankly it’s a disgrace what they were charging for refreshments the last time I was in a cinema. When I was into films you could get a good quality copy from people in the pubs and have your own refreshments/take away without some wanker whispering the whole way through the film and no sticky floors with clumsy fuckers spilling juice.

But hey ho supply and demand and now there’s no demand hopefully the ones who have been profiteering from the frontline workers hard work over the years are feeling the comeuppance.

Was in cineworld watching rocky 2 Saturday night. Not much people in at all. Was worth the £4 tho for an old film. Food and drink is expensive because the cinemas make very little money from the ticket sales as the film companies keep virtually all of it.

Few people are aware of the pricing structure for films, cineworld would probably have paid 500-800 or 50% of the box office for Rocky 2.

the screening I was in had less than 40 in the audience, even if everyone had paid the normal price they would lose money.

Having used to work in Cineworld, I feel sad for my former colleagues; some of whom have been there a long time.

I had stopped visiting there as Odeon had parking and staff more deaf aware. And as some say, food costs were expensive.

I was hoping to see Bond/Wonder Woman/Bill n Ted in the cinema so it’s a shame it’s not going to happen.

Went to the cinema tonight and there were only 5 people including me and my son in. It was a film that was out last year but decided to give them a turn of the money.

It will be a shame if they all go under but don’t see how they can stay open if the big films aren’t released soon

I’ve not been to the cinema in ages only really go when there’s a big movie such as James Bond or Black Widow coming out.

It’s sad that people are going to lose their jobs unfortunately they’ll now join the masses from hospitality and tourism/aviation that have already lost theirs.

We've been to Cineworld twice since it re-opened and felt safe and comfortable both times.

Cineworld used to show a classic film every month and it was always sold out, I'd be happy to support that.
