Morning everyone

Its good to see people wearing face masks in shops but does my head in when you see someone wearing one with their nose out of even better when the mask is under their chin

Roll on normal life again

Hate them. Breathing in your own breath is not healthy. I am guilty of popping my nose out but not at work.

Yep, if they're going to do that its pointless even having one on.

The quicker everyone complies with the rules the quicker this goes away and we won't need to wear them

Thousands expected to attend march in Edinburgh next week to protest against these rules.

Good to see the vast majority wearing face coverings with a small percentage still thinking its some sort of conspiracy or that they are somehow immune. A wee visit to ICU or Respiratory would sort that out (then again probably not)! I get that some people are exempt as well and there's no easy way of providing a form of identification due to privacy laws. We just need to see this through for all our sakes.

They said there’d be huge spikes after the VE Day celebrations.

They said there’d be huge spikes after the black lives matter riots.

They said there’d be huge spikes after the black lives matter demos.

They said there’d be huge spikes after celebrations in Merseyside after Liverpool won the league.

They said there’d be huge spikes and a second lockdown after the pubs opened up.

More pragmatism and less scaremongering is needed.

What are you trying to say caller? Sounds like you buy into the conspiracy theory.

They didn't say there would be a spike after Cheltenham races there was

They didn't say there would be a spike after the Liverpool game, there was.

I was at Cheltenham and only seen on guy with a mask on his head standing smoking in the crowd.

Most spikes have a pub linked to them but they keep pubs open.

I lost a good friend to illness a few weeks ago his cremation was last week and only 20 people at it we could off went to the pub and as many as you like could off been there no masks no social distance or washing hands

It's a face mask.

Folk aren't being asked to donate a fucking kidney.

I hate them but am not a selfish prick so will wear one until I'm told otherwise even if the data and evidence to support them is a bit sketchy depending on what you read.

Not the most comfortable to wear for long periods but has to be done for the greater good.

On another note anyone finding the masks sexy on others and a turn on??

I have reasons for not liking them but I follow rules when required, I also see the arguments for and against. We all need to do the best we can until more certain facts are ascertained. Wearing a mask is a small inconvenience in comparison to what some are suffering. We need to do everything and anything we can to help that process. Wine helps... and I can’t get that without a mask so...

Who is THEY ? There was a couple of thousand people outside anfield after Liverpool won the league. A couple of them may have had covid. They were outdoors and possibly transmitted to a one or two people max. That wouldn't cause a spike. The same applies to the other situations.

Scotland was in single figure cases not too many weeks ago. Yesterday, over 160 cases reported.

When pubs opened cases were very low so there was little to cause spikes. However, what we did see was a cluster related to pubs in Aberdeen which was identified and controlled. Once the virus starts to spread again (which it is doing) then it will be more difficult to control and we will see spikes and pubs and schools will definitely be a huge contributor.

Much like in Far Eastern countries masks should become the new normal. If we wear masks, continue thorough hand hygiene and keep to social distancing we’ll hopefully limit (it’s not going to disappear) not just COVID-19 but seasonal flu and other coronavirus’ like the common cold.

"Scotland was in single figure cases not too many weeks ago. Yesterday, over 160 cases reported."

But to put that into perspective not too many weeks they were only 4000 a day being tested, yesterday there was over 16000. The more you test, the more you will find.

You need to look at the cases per thousand tested figures to be able to compare.

This is a fact. A fact which POTUS Donald Trump has been stating for months now which was ridiculed by Sturgeon and the like. Now that cases are rocketing in Scotland this is now being preached by Sturgeon.....

By "Sturgeon and the like," do you mean anyone with even basic scientific literacy? The fact that more testing leads to more (absolute) positives is not why we're mocking Trump.
