It's not free but Wondershare filmora is easy to use

If all you want to do is trim videos, make individual clips etc. then the default Windows Video Editor is fine.

For more complicated stuff Lightworks gets pretty good reviews, although I haven't had cause to use it yet.

DaVinci resolve, from Black magic designs who make professional broadcast equipment.

It might be using a sledgehammer to crack a nut though.

Professional video editing.

free version is still comprehensive!
