I've no idea why it was risk assessed as not being safe. It's the same level of risk as people talking.

As for the risk of dancing, most places don't have the space.

Really feels like a very strange thing to impose.

If there is music people will shout at one another, if you shout there is more likely hood of droplet spread which means further virus spread. People are going to have to learn to deal with the new normal.

Pubs are open for now, virus numbers spiking in England again, a second lock down is on the horizon for them hopefully our numbers stay manageable and we avoid it.

People raise voices regardless.

I find the whole thing surrounding pubs crazy. The risk isn't music, or even people as such. The risk is the consumption of alcohol which then changes behaviours.

I find the fact my son can't see a Dr for a long term condition but we can go out for dinner or drinks absolutely bonkers

I dont see how restaurants can have background music but pubs can't?

I was in both last night and just as many people in both.

But hey ho rules are rules still had a good night.

I actually prefer no music.

We were out in Edinburgh a couple of weeks ago and it was refreshing that the pubs didn't play music.

I believe England have pretty much the same rule... background music at most for the exact same reasons... so as people don’t raise voices while social distancing etc. as mentioned above.

Just another situation where the Scottish rules are the same as England but somehow it’s used to score points against Nicola Sturgeon...

I'm not one for going to pubs so doesn't affect me but would thought govt would have focused on places where fitness and exercise were promoted before alcohol consumption but I guess there's no tax revenue in gyms compared to alcohol.... Not that I'm suggesting anything lol

Gotta wonder tho.

Lol we went to a local pub recently where it was 2 metre rule etc and tables all spread out.

Most people in the pub knew each other so after a few drinks because there was no music they were all shouting across the pub at each other.

Mr is the same waiting on an emergency op since June that is usually done within 6 week, they are saying if I am lucky I might get it in October due to restrictions put on hospitals.

the Khmer Rouge & Pol Pot banned music as well in 1975.

Any pub I've been in has had music on. Yeah its a lot lower than what it was before this but you are allowed low background music. Hell the pub down the road from me is still showing football aswell which apparently wasn't allowed to happen.

A stupid rule. Its either going to have people leaning in to talk to each other or as the general noise rises people will start shouting. As someone mentioned wetherspoons who don't have music,anyone ever been in a quiet one? Can jam people into an enclosed building for food and drink but can't have people in a racecourse or football staduim. Personally think the SNP have tied themselves in knots trying to have different rules for different sectors and completely ignoring others.

Not the case you can even watch the football with sound lots of things different gyms are open physical contact sports allowed eg football cricket tennis ect pubs all practice social distancing with track and trace by app

Did the Khmer Rouge ban music only in pubs for public health reasons during a pandemic or was it banned everywhere?
