Well a first for me today, I walked out my work, based on there low standards of care to residents. Feel a bit scared, but liberated also.

Have you ever walked out of a job and if yes why.any funny stories?

Well done for being honest to yourself.

I guarantee it was NOT the best job you have ever had and it WONmT be the best job you will ever have so hold your head high and stay positive. I’m sure you will question your actions over the next few days but I applaud you.

Brave move but not solving the problem. If you think residents are not getting cared for properly maybe you should make an official complaint higher up the board.

Hope you find a replacement job soon.x

Agree with blue here. Whistle blowing can be done without your identity being revealed at your work. Although you might have tried that already?

Have walked out of 3 jobs over the years.

1 was after only half a day doing a shift - I didn't like a lot of their practices as they were inefficient and wasted time. I was told that I wasn't there to make changes.

1 was a part-time job where the manager took a dislike to me, and made things bad.

Last one was because of a bad situation going on that management had decided to turn a blind-eye to. I left without even saying cheerio, then 3 days later they asked me to come back. I spoke to them and we agreed that I'd work the last month with them to finish a project then go. Luckily another disgruntled employee went to the "papers" with the story, which led to several firings.

Well done. Very brave. Good to make a stand from time to time.

I did it once because I was being bullied... and the guy doing it (a director) made me pay back money for holidays I had taken as I’d already taken a fortnight off and it was the start of the financial year...

I really wish I’d done something about it with the Union in hindsight. He was a nasty piece of work.

Had great pleasure telling boss and management where to go once. What made it better was I had the support of the workers on the team and a service provider / contractor. Did the talk on safety but not the walk.

Presently thinking of retirement, line manager is taking bets on whom in the team will retire first, as several of us are old farts and are comfortable enough to go out in a blaze of glory
