'Castle' hotels

Hi. Always wanted to stay in a castle. So thought i'd take family for a couple of nights now lockdown has lifted somewhat. Wondering if anyone has been to one and any recommendations (or even ones to avoid).

Melville castle near Dalkeith, dundas Castle near South Queensferry both are rather nice

Faside estate outside of Musselburgh is worth a look. Fantastic _iew from up there too.

Both Fonab Castle Hotel (just outside Pitlochry) and "The Torridon" (Wester Ross)

are both excellent, both are 5 star and what you would expect from a 5 star location with room and dining.

Love this thread, going to look all these up,we are big hotel fans, stayed in Kingsknows hotel last night, Dryburgh Abby hotel is another one of our favourites, they aren't castles but beautiful private estate hotels

I stayed here at Christmas and got to admit its looking pretty tired the rooms definitely need upgrading in my opinion

Fonab castle at Pitlochry is brilliant, stayed in one of the castle rooms, not the lodge. Food, staff, service, all brilliant

Kilmarnock

If your inverness ish .Dornoch castle hotel is amazing. Food brilliant stay in the castle room and you will wow.

And the beach just 8 minutes away to blow away the effects of the Malt bar. One of the best in scotland

Barony Castle Hotel near Peebles is lovely. Polish Army officers stationed there during the war. Good walks and great wee pub at the end of the drive
