I think they are much like everything. Some will like them and some won't.

The best ones for me are usually extentions of people's profiles that show some more personality. Even better if they make me laugh.

I think lots will love them but they aren’t for me, I’m a doer not a watcher. Men are more visually stimulated though so think more men than women will enjoy them. *disclaimer - only my opinion

Yes someone else notices the socks!!! Don't get them in photos
