Status/profile requesting conversation

Just had to share to see what the thoughts are:

I always read a full profile before sending a message, saves wasting my time as well as the other persons, but recently I've notice a lot of profiles looking for someone that can hold a conversation. Now I'm not an English lecturer, but given I read the profiles and would write an appropriate first message (no graphic porn guys) explain a little about myself and relate to any common ground based on profile, throw in a couple of funnies to keep it light as after all it an introduction. Even if that grabs the attention and I get a response .. when a few messages later the replies are still one line and pretty evasive .. you start to think to yourself, this profile was put together thinking if I copy one from eharmony I'll look interesting and intellectual..

My point being, conversation takes more than one person..... all be it I have been known to talk to myself.. that's besides the point lol

And before someone says it, I fully appreciate ladies on here get bombarded with messages, hence I always make the effort to actually star a convo... I also get bombarded with 'can I suck you off' from guys which flattering as it may be.. clearly not read my profile or put the correct criteria into their search (might be worth a search option for 'FAB straight'... just saying)

Maybe your conversation, no matter how well crafted, isn't engaging to them.

"Maybe your conversation, no matter how well crafted, isn't engaging to them."

This could be true..... but for arguments sake let's assume I'm a wizard of linguistic magic.. lol

Wait maybe I'm a sarcastic prick.. that could be something ??

Iv been guilty of 1 word answers if I'm not interested in the guy.

If someone is interested they will make the effort.

I think you can usually get a feel from someone early on if there interested or not, Best just to bow out gracefully.

Just thought it worth a share.. cheer for all the input... I'll go back and sit in the corner sulking and devising my plans for world domination.....

FYI - if I achieve world domination crispy creme will make vodka flavour doughnuts.

to be honest with everyone stuck home just now starting and maintaining conversations with new people is also hard

there is only so many times you can do the whole

“so how is this crazy time treating you, are you still working, what have you been up to”

“yeah working from home then watched some netflix”

chat just now, much like life, is repetitive and boring, its highlighted how much conversation before was just about what you did today or what you had planned for the weekend

Couldn't agree more! I'm already pretty bad at keeping in touch online, it's gotten worse since lockdown x

I think on balance I'd prefer doughnut flavoured vodka.

I agree with OP.

Women/couples are just as bad as guys with uninspiring first messages with "hey"

It takes two to tango though, and I get bored very easily if the other woman cannot provide a conversational flow.

Especially during lockdown, women just want ego-boosting attention

All sexes need a little ego boost now and again. Nothing wrong with that. It’s also occasionally known as either flirting or being kind.

Ladies - feel free to Fab my pics or send a wink.

Not at all. It's a numbers game.

But Find me a woman who will send me an flirty opening message more than "hey" and perhaps I'll not have such a bleak statement here..... Oh wait, They're unicorns here

I think it's partly due to a high number of guys guilty of fabbing a picture of a nipple in the morgue. I mean you see status updates of pictureless profiles who joined with the last 5 hours stating that they're 'out of messages' or 'overwhelmed'

These guys give off such a stench of desperation that some women assume that 'hey' will do the trick and sadly many non self respecting men will jump like a whipped puppy at the one word message.

It is indeed a two way street, best way is to put the conversation to bed early if it's not working out.

A wee "nice arse" or "great legs" comment is always graciously accepted but beyond that I find constant attempts at ego boosting and flattery boring as fuck. Anybody can chuck them about at the end of the day....
