"First of all why did you pay your tax in April when it was defered until at least July? I think this is the time when you need to work out what you actually need to live, sell what you don't & cancel all those direct debits you don't need. Food wise, buy raw materials & make at home...it's much cheaper the pre-packaged or takeaways. Energy wise - switch everything off at the plug when your not using it except fridge, alarm obviously. Heating wise - shouldn't need it ATM but if you did layer up before putting it on. Don't drive where you don't need to and link up journeys so you do a loop almost. Dvds, cds, old phones - all worth money...sell them on music magpie/zippfit etc. You may very well have to sell things you don't want to sell to get by. " PersonallyI think this advice is scary Mate get yourself down to the social before you do anything else . Or citizens advice, see what your entitled to by way of financial help. Contact centre one and see if your due any tax rebates . Try to get more income if possible with other work. Lots of delivery driver work out there just now. Above all don't sell any of you possessions until you get professional advice. Keep your chin up bud.

"I'm wondering how many people have commited suicide due to lockdown. Depression. Loss of income. No work. Worry over the immediate future? Everyone gets depressed granted but i fear this situation has pushed many over the edge. Personally I am now living on 20 quid a week. Unable to work since the beginning of March and then hammered by the tax man in April cutting my income by 90%. Maxed put credit cards and loans and now spend every waking minute worrying about rent council tax and bills and knowing my monthly payments are going up and up whilst my income goes down and down. Now they are saying wont be until mid July hospitality trade resumes. Even then can see the sector being decimated. Im a strong person but finding myself contemplating the worst. Sure im not alone. Guess it will be a while before find out how many deaths are from this rather than catching the virus. In my opinion the government should lift lockdown now Not everyone is happily sat at home on furlough" The answer to your first question I'm sure is far, far less than the amount of people who have died from Covid.

"There is support if you're struggling. You can get help with food deliveries and there are loads of helplines to point you in the right direction if you're not getting by financially or mentally. Don't sell stuff you don't want to do without!! This one off little bit of money isn't worth it and you'll only end up feeling more miserable. You can go over direct debits and standing orders to try and cut back monthly costs. Get in touch with citizens advice bureau and/or samaritans. And ignore any shitty remarks on here. Hope you're in a better place soon x" Add to this good advice, cut up your credit cards and contact the issuers, have all payments frozen on them. There's nothing they can do to you off a budget like yours.

"If only! I have nothing worth selling and if i did theres no cash gen! Ive not paid rent since march as just been paying bills as and when come in. Watching rent arrears now rise. Even once lockdown over will still take year to pay the excess. Trust me i dont spend friviously. Have a kid to feed. Im normally hardbworking pay everything on time. Im just so stressed out with it all. I'm always depressed anyway this just heightens it ten fold. What irks me is tax office said wont reduce payments (tax credit) as view it as temp situation due to covid then cut me off 150 a week asbsoon as new tax yearp. I know imnot alone in struggling just needed a rant. " You really need to get citizens advice on this. I'm sure they can help you sort it. Might not feel like it now, but things will get better. You just need to get in touch with the appropriate organisations for help x

"Sorry to here you are struggling it’s a tough time for many x You said you haven’t been working since start March, we’re you made redundant ? If you were still on the payroll the 29th Feb you can still be furloughed x" My post was project funded, so I couldn’t be furloughed reactively but I did apply for job seekers allowance instead of universal credit and that has taken some worries off. Definitely speak to citizens advice or social security Scotland to see what can be done. M
