"You maintain forward velocity in the train however on the roof you would encounter wind resistance. So forward motion, velocity acting against fluid resistance." I should also include mass/weight into the forward motion.

"Hi guys it’s always baffled me that if your standing on a train and jump up you would land on the same spot but if you done the same 6ft higher up on the roof you would land further back ?? Any explanations for this ?? X" There are many variables you have failed to mention. Moving train? Accelerating or at constant velocity? Projection of jump? And what exactly do you mean by 6ft higher If you go study mech physics, you'll get your answers

And what exactly do you mean by 6ft higher If you go study mech physics, you'll get your answers i think you might be over complicating it... the image i got was a guy in a moving train in a carriage jumps straight up and down on the spot same guy does same jump on roof with different result its interesting stuff ... saw one similar about a fly going in the car window and if the car is driving at 60mph then so must be the fly " If you really want to hurt your brain, imagine that train is moving at 99.9% the speed of light, and you'll exhibit the time dilation effect. Added to that, the earth spins on its axis while also spinning round the sun. So even if we stood still, we're moving very very fast. Anyway, that's just the nerd in me
