I usually pay a hair salon £50 to touch up my roots and yesterday i done it myself successfully myself for £4.50.

What costs have you saved on recently?

The mr has cut his own hair since 2001, people can’t get how he can fade it in and everything. Really is impressive to watch, saves him a fortune but his favourite joke is that it also saves him having to speak to barbers

I found a website called Shein a few weeks ago when mega bored, must have saved me a fortune on my lockdown sprees....and it goes through my Topcashback! Happy!

I always do my roots myself, however i am saving loads on fuel. I'm still working but all the runs taking kids here there and everywhere have stopped and i reckon i'm saving £30+ per week x

Not commuting, no High Street coffees or lunches. About £175 a week.

Frightening really.

Mind you, I'm spending more on alcohol!

I've set up a separate account and transfer the money each week.

I last put petrol in the car just before the schools closed, still have almost a full tank. I'm doing a weekly shop for delivery and am limited to the number of items I can order so I'm having to think carefully about what I actually need & not buying all the little extras that usually sneak their way into the trolley. Not meeting friends for coffee or eating out so saving money there. In the good weather I'd probably have had days out with the kids, which would have involved spending money, but can't. I'm also trying to resist the temptation to shop online for things, unless I feel I can justify them as essential.

Having said all that, having the kids at home full time, my groceries bill is definitely higher than usual!

Oh & I coloured my hair myself rather than paying someone to do it.

Probably spending more...the kids are eating 24/7.

Hair cut is only 15 quid every 5-6 weeks. Bleached and toned it myself for years.

That sounds like heaven. Even when i was in a relationship i was expected to pay half of everything. Apart from the car i had to pay that myself as he did not drive so refused to pay for it.

By June I’ll have saved around £1200 since I started watching where and what I was doing since this all came about

Lost a shit load of weight since the takeaways and pubs shut and been making the most of our government approved daily exercise regime

It’s certainly had it’s advantages

I'm spending a fortune on food, kids are eating way more and I'm no longer doing my second job so I've lost that income

I'm definitely worse off financially.

However I'm still working and able to keep a roof over our heads so I consider myself lucky

Glad to see someone drawing on the positive of negativity. Personally the poverty will hit further than covid 19 but right now I am glad that neither me or my family / friends have been affected and for that I am more thankful, will cross the bridge of housing / work / finances when the time comes right now I'm happy to be fortunate enough to fit and healthy and not experiencing what a lot of families are on top of everything else are right now.

I've found Shein Curve, I'm impressed with the service, have spent a small fortune, but nothing compared to what I would have on other sites. Nice underwear too.

"Spent a week in hospital with the rona, didnt have to buy any food that week.

Silver linings "

Playing games on my phone that pay cash back has earned me around £100 in the last month.

And as a wee Brucey bonus, ordered a pair of trainers from under armour, they sent a duplicate order in error (only charged for one pair), when I returned the extra pair they issued a refund.

Emailed them about their error, trying to be honest, and got a computer says no reply. So free trainers

There are a bunch of games apps that let you click through and earn points which convert into cash, just do a search and you will them.

There are a lot that pay out small amounts every time you play, others where you need to reach a target level for higher amounts.

Most of them are ad driven though, so you need to be patient and allow ads to play.

As in gambling? Does it cost money to play them

I seem to be at the opposite end of the scale. I've spent a small fortune on materials for jobs around the house and garden that I probably should have done years ago.

But on the upside I've reduced my caffeine intake from Costa saving me a couple pounds a day

I’m saving petrol money as only office based 2 weeks out of 8 at the moment but my boys are eating more as the older 2 aren’t going out with friends and my youngest normally eats breakfast and dinner at my mums 5 days.

I had though of a way of saving money - I could put my mum on furlough (as I still give her money every month) and invoice her for the 10 extra meals I now need to feed my son every week!!

I could be onto a small fortune doing this

We still have 309 miles of petrol in our car for the past 7 weeks, we usually go through that in two weeks, with work and driving kids to training, dancing, shops etc. So saved about £200 petrol, about 200/300 on going out once every month for adult time (that would include, meal, cjs, drinks etc..) 60 football fees , 50 dancing fees , 100 school lunch money, so quite a bit of savings.

Haven’t bought petrol in seven weeks, or lunch, or a Costa, or eaten out....it’s surprising how much it adds up to..... on the other hand could do with a haircut !
