Essential worker

There must be other essential workers on here. I’ve just put in a 75 hour week and I’m looking forward to a cold beer.

Two refrigerated trucks delivered to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital. Be very safe things are about to get real.

I woke up after my nightshift to discover the window cleaner had been. I know the poor guy needs cash but i would not class this as an essential job still to be doing.

He will not have a keyworker letter and will now have to chap my door for money. I feel sorry for eveyone losing out financially but as alot of his customers are elderly he is doing something wrong.

Bluebell is part of the NHS so you may want to withdraw that comment. Might be best to have all the information to hand before throwing stones at anyone.

Absolutely not !!! As an nhs worker she should be undestanding the rules more than anyone. She openly bragged about taking her dogs out in her car 3 plus times a day for walkies. She has a garden . One exercise a day is the guidelines . So no mate I will not be withdrawing my comment. I am also classed as a key worker and am out nightshirt during this time so don't think I'm sitting at home with nothing better to do . My daughter also had covid through her job so yes I will continue calling out people that think the rules don't apply to them.

E.K . Glasgow

Window cleaners are allowed to continue reference the First minister

5. What about gardeners or window cleaners?

People working alone, providing community services such as gardeners or window cleaners can continue to work.

"If they can go about their business safely this can be good for the community and we would encourage them to do so," said Ms Sturgeon.

We had a courier from Virgin Media call us to tell us he would be arriving in 10 minutes (Tuesday morning) to uplift a media box(downgraded and not needed).

Sure enough, he duly turned up.

MrLA asked him why he was out and was staggered to be told that he and his colleagues have been classed as 'essential workers' and that he had a letter to produce to Police Scotland if stopped.

Nothing more than uplifting an unused boxed..ffs…

As long as that window cleaner is not chapping the door and asking for money or asking for access or fresh water and as long as he is abiding with the spatial distance ruling then I have no concerns on the guy making his living.

I don't have a letter from the Scottish government or even feom BJ but i am classed as an essential worker and funnily wnough if i got stopped when travelling i bet the police wouldn't believe me as i carry a big bag to work but alas i am still essential to keep you all in electric, gas and petrol to name a few ,

As for the window cleaner hood on him as long as he has all rhe correct ppe on and stays 2meters away the customers can easily open door leave money under mat or on doorstep when he is there like i did and am sure the guy would be happy to pick up his monies when i go back in the house . And as for taken kids , dogs out as long as you travel no more than a mile from your home and you are away from peoplebother than the family who are staying with you this is allowed to.

And you are incapable of thinking a simple solution to this individuals dilemma of earning a living?

I assume you have your window cleaners mobile number to either:

1. Pay it into his bank account or

2. Think out of the box and consider informing him you'll put his money in an envelope and leaving it in outside location close to your door for him to uplift?

You don't have the contact number of someone you are allowing and giving access to your property?...really?????

Even so,I assume you didn't answer the door and therefore didn't give him payment? But what have you done about him coming next month?

However, If you did answer the door and made payment was that not silly and hypocritical taking your principles on him not being an essential worker?

And if you did, have you now got his number and made a simple arrangement for next months payment?

I'd advise paying him behind the door via your letterbox next time he comes. Give it a wipe afterwards and either wash your hands, or use and dispose of, a latex protective layer to avoid infection.

I work for DWP just done a 70+ hour week, barley anyone in my work usually about 90 of use who work on the benefit I do theirs now only about 15 of us in each day. We just got told the other day theirs around 4000 claims per day being made at the moment for the benefit we do alone.

Yeah I’m classed as an essential worker. It involves going into peoples homes but I wear a mask and gloves and ask them to leave the door unlocked and stay in another room. I don’t have a letter right enough lol

Our gardener was out the other day. Not really essential work however he wasn’t in contact with us and we can transfer money into his account but I’m not sure all the older people he does it for will be up to date with internet banking or whatever so I can see bluebells point when he chapped the door, they should make other arrangements.

That sounds like railway work to me. Lol

2 hrs is a long shift.

"We had a courier from Virgin Media call us to tell us he would be arriving in 10 minutes (Tuesday morning) to uplift a media box(downgraded and not needed).

Well he will be chapping doors aking for money as he is not doing it for free. "

My window cleaner gets paid by bank transfer and he has plenty space around my home to observe social distancing so I have no bother with him continuing.. was nice to have someone to chat with for a few minutes actually

I'm working from home, I very much hate it as I want to be doing what I'm paid to do but that's not possible.

I'm only doing it this way because by the guidelines.

I'm all for the Vision Technicians (Sammy and his chammy') as for the life of me I don't know how a windae cleaner can work remotely by laptop.

If you are an Essential worker your an absolute Hero.

Can only commend what your doing for this country.

If only people just stayed in.

Essential worker here, planned works cancelled but plenty to keep going.

People always need electricity and when there's a power cut someone has to fix it!

"Serious question - should we be locking cats in then? They definitely go wandering more than once a day "

Maybe we should now we know that some big cats have been diagnosed with covid 19. Food for thought.

What about all the wild cats? And for that matter what about all the Bats living in churches and barns since this apparently originated from a bat??

Again serious questions....

"I work for DWP just done a 70+ hour week, barley anyone in my work usually about 90 of use who work on the benefit I do theirs now only about 15 of us in each day. We just got told the other day theirs around 4000 claims per day being made at the moment for the benefit we do alone.

"

This is brutal but needs must. Been off since 17th March & finally now working from home so help is coming soon for DWP

If they keep their separation distance they are perfectly within their rights. Let's face it every time you go to the shop you aren't always 2m from another person.

I'm getting fed up listening to every minute example of someone getting called out for not doing exactly the same as the person having the whinge.

It's unnecessary
