Me my oh have said this many times. Theres a few in her work been really shitty plus I was really shity in November when I was travelling up and down to England never felt. That bad before. So theres a fair chance it's been a bout longer than the CCP are saying

Forensics indicates the mutation occurred at the beginning of November. So it wouldn’t have been before then.

That’s if you believe the WHO and don’t have the tinfoil hat on.

Looking at how quickly it has spread since we actually knew about it... reported by china 31st December .. first cases in the uk were late January, so in reality the first cases in china were back in early October... technically that would / could mean it was in the uk early November or sooner.. so..........

Back in november for no reason i started retaining fluid and breathing got really bad, I booked myself into hospital and they said i had heart failure, no previous heart problems and although im a big guy i went to the gym a few times a week, was in hospital for a week, on tablets and had excess fluid removed, all my symptoms were exactly same as virus, but i dont think they would have tested for it because they werent aware.

I think it's been around a lot longer than they know, also due to my job i was in contact with bus loads of chinese tourists in the months leading upto it.

Something did the rounds at my work and up to 80% of the office were off at one stage or another.

This was in mid-February

It was literally the worst I have ever felt, and I had to take sick time off because of it. That doesn't sound bad, but I NEVER take sick time off, so for me to take time off it must have been bad.

From the list of the 10 potential symptoms, I had 8 of them over the space of the 6 days I would say I had it.

I'm lucky to be with an employer that is paying for their staff to be tested. Senior management has been done already, and the rest of us will be getting home-kits.

WHO apparently first identified CV-19 last February, but it wasn't transmittable amongst humans at that point.

No idea if I had it, as I wasn't tested, but i had two weeks of variable symptoms that would constantly come and go: headaches, leg/back ages, sore throat, snotty nose... But no fever/cough

I feel back to brilliant now though.

At the moment the public health authorities (source is a snippet I caught on tv last night, so treat with appropriate caution) are saying that if you've showed the symptoms then the general public are more likely to have had something else.

As it progresses this will change.

Regardless, it is important to isolate ourselves if we show symptoms. Don't assume that because you've had a/the symptoms you've had it because those symptoms are shared across a range of viruses.

Keep others and yourself safe.

Nurses and doctors that are more exposed to the virus are entirely different to the general public and I can't comment on them.

There is only one covid-19 virus. How it affects you is down to your personal health and god/fate/luck (depending on your personal belief). Those that have sadly died from it have had the same virus as Boris and Prince Charles, so you can't hope for the version of the virus that they had.

Anyone more informed than me please correct and provide better references than I have.

Looking back I most definitely had it round Hogmanay time. Never been so ill In my life. Raging temperature, cough, sore throat, aches and pains and no energy for two weeks and signed off work. Docs pasted it off as laryngitis but I’ve had that before and wasn’t like that.

Same symptoms as when I had the flu a few years ago.

Unless you've been tested then you can't say you've definitely had it.

I had it returning from a stag party in Gran Canaria beginning of February.

Drs back then didn’t know what it was and put it down to me having the flu.

Three weeks I was ill for.

I returned from holiday on my flight home I became ill Saturday into Sunday

Got to my gp on the Tuesday who thought I might have a chest infection high temp of 41 so precribed an antibiotic fast forward three days and went back to my gp on the Friday as as my tempreture just wouldnt come down and id developed a cough!still running a temp of 41 & never felt so ill in my life and slept constantly around the clock.

My gp then thought it could possibly be malaria as Id got badly bitten while on holiday so he got me admitted into hospital where they ran some tests and sent me for a chest xray .

The results were that I had pneuminia but given all thats going on it does make me wonder if there were possible cases not picked up on until Nov/ Dec this happend late Sept early October.

You will find the infected need to self isolate for 7 days from the sign of symptoms, only longer if the symptoms are still there after the 7 days has lapsed. It's 14 days for other people in the house. Thats the advice given from 111. So like my daughter, after 7 days he could be back up and looking fine.

Would I be surprised if it had been circulating unnoticed for longer than we think, no.

Is there any evidence of that so far, no.

The problem is that just about anything short of full blown ARDS (when you end up on serious oxygen/ventilated) can be caused by a host of other viruses that commonly do the rounds in autumn & winter. Diagnosis based on symptoms alone just isn't reliable and you can't currently retrospectively test to see who's had or not had Covid-19.

The much talked about antibody test would do that but apparently it's still not reliable enough. I'm not sure how much of that I actually believe, especially since widespread antibody testing could well uncover many people who've actually had the disease & weren't tested/diagnosed at the time.

The genetics says the virus causing Covid-19 first jumped to humans around November but who knows how accurate that really is, it's very difficult to be certain just how truthful/accurate information from China really is.

You could be feeling better and not showing any signs after 7 days but still infect people.

The WHO advice is 14 days.

I’d be more inclined to listen to them.

So your saying the info on the NHS website is wrong. ? The advice given over 111 to my daughter was wrong too. ? Maybe you should publish your own information leaflet for us all so we get the facts berring as our government and nhs clearly don't have a clue what thir talking about eh.

Both Annie and myself were very Ill, told by gp to treat as if suffering from Covid. Neither of us in hospital but both were probably close to that. I've only had proper flu once in my life, naturally resistant, this was worse than pneumonia but didn't last as long. Brutal illness, knackered for days after.

And just to add insult to injury, it seems anyone can get tested for Covid-19, if they can afford it. There's several private labs now offering test kits for sale for upwards of £225.

So if you're wealthy you can know for sure if you've got it, the rest of us - including the health workers who'll end up looking after the wealthy - just need to guess.

Not often I say it but this is one instance where the government should step in and insist that capacity be given over to the NHS.

They do say to self isolate for 14 days after visiting an infected area and not showing symptoms.

They also say to distance yourself by a metre. Which is less than the uk govt recommendations.

I look forward being pointed in the right direction as i3 like to keep as well informed as I can.

Hammond finally answered when pushed regarding bojo, himself, being tested and doctors etc not and I quote “people in a position of power” let that sink in

CDC recommends that everyone 6 months and older get a seasonal flu vaccine each year by the end of October. However, as long as flu viruses are circulating, vaccination should continue throughout flu season, even into January or later.

I've always believed that flu vaccines will only work if its attacking the same strain but mutates if the vaccine is weaker than the strain. Immunity testing would be cheaper to test before administering vaccines.

Just my opinion as the dates line up from start of flu vaccines and first hit of coronavirus.

Im not arguing about it just saying. I'm way too busy, just having a coffee break.

All 12 of us all healthy and no signs of anything. So long may that last.

The gov continue to allow flights from Heathrow to land with no checks for passengers.

You can interpret the WHO advice how you like just as I’ve interpreted it.

You’ll remember bojo interview where he admitted shaking hands and continue to shake hands with corona patients.

The WHO currently advises 14 days of quarantine for those likely to have come into contact with other Covid-19 patients.

WHO also says national and local governments are “best placed to advise on what people in your area should be doing to protect themselves”.

Obviously OUR govt aren’t doing a very good job.

What a lot of people have to remember with extreme caution is that at this time of year there is the 'normal' flu that does and is still doing it rounds and that it would be silly or dangerous to assume because over the last few months or so and you've been extremely poorly that you may have had Covid 19.

In 1977 (long time ago) and as a fit 18 year old I caught the 'Red flu' and it completely floored me. The best descriptor was that your eyelids ached if you blinked and your body was so sore.

So unless you have been tested ( doubt it) there is no way you can assume you've had it and its essential that the same rules of non engagement and movement must apply.

Just do we're clear, it's you're interpretation of the WHO advice that you're following, NOT WHO advice. It's always important to make the distinction.

Too much opinion is stated as fact on all forums. Misinformation spreads easily and can almost be as dangerous as the issue it's talking about (ODing on anti malaria drugs for example).

What you are willing to do is above and beyond excellent. I hope you don't have to self isolate yourself for 14 days.

Unless you've been tested then you can't say you've definitely had it.

Few years back I had the flu, ended up in hospital and tested for it. What I had earlier this year was a hell of a lot worse.

Many of us have probably had it but we didn’t know about it. Fed up of seeing the news saying how many confirmed cases there are and how many deaths have been connected to it give us some positive news on it like how many people recover and how many people leave hospital after being admitted with it

We as a family were so ill mid February. Breathing was horrendous, fever, sweats, chest pains, cough for weeks. I work with lots of folk doing international travel too

Look at how quickly people are dying, while we know it exists and are actively trying to prevent the spread with mass global lockdown

Do you really think we had sporadic cases of it from September to January and people were just surviving and not transmitting by luck?

There isn't even proof it had mutated to transfer from human to human until mid January so unless you were all hanging about the market in Wuhan you had some other winter virus and still have to be very careful

My own sister had a 3 day bad cold and has now convinced herself she has antibody immunity

something else that hasn’t even been proven is possible yet

Oh and someone said there is only 1 virus but there are apparently already 2 strains and any vaccine needs to be able to cover both

I think your underestimating just how contagious this virus is while at the same time not grasping how diverse it can be some folk who have tested positive showed mild or no signs theres also cases of asymptomatic carriers who have no ill effects but simply carry and spread most health body's are also In agreement that there are now multiple strains as for timescales who knows exactly when or even how it originated they have guesstimates but nothing concrete.

Where i am just now there are cases of folk having mild cold symptoms and muscle pains in Nov who have since tested positive.

I agree their are alot of folk convincing themselves wrongly that they have it theres even crazies trying to catch it believing they cant get again so fancy their chances it doesn't help the conflicting advice given by different health organisations right now I'm having to follow protocols that our health organisation says could even be dangerous

I honestly dont know if we had it or not

Mid February both myself and daughter had sore throats but not that bad. Next morning I woke up in agony with mine and she was fine

A really painful cough soon followed and a fever that lasted about 4 days. I got better then a few days later I got a really bad cold that lasted about another 4 days

At that stage my other half and son got the same symptoms in the same order

I dont know if that was another bug going around or it was C19 and we were just lucky

No i think my point was it is highly contagious so if it was kicking about mid to late last year undiagnosed and no measures in place to contain, i doubt it would have taken til february to be named a pandemic and be causing such serious symptoms, issues and high rate of spread

Mild cold symptoms in November and covid this year are not mutually exclusive, it is possible to have had both and for 2 different reasons, i could test positive for covid now and have had muscle pain, a cough and a fever at any time in the last year (or my life) and it not be remotelt related ... those are the most common symptoms of the majority of viral infections

Basically in short the science and math doesn’t stack up to it existing last year, personal belief these people had some other (perhaps still nasty) virus

I get what your saying though the country I'm in has carried out tests on folk with symptoms last year (Oct nov) who have tested positive for the virus I (personal view that follows this health organisation)believe there was/is different strains.

The math and science do say it's been present since last year maybe not recognised as a global pandemic at those times but never the less present the mutations also would take time remember at its heart this pandemic is part of the corona strains which have been around for years (read the back of a dettol bottle it kills corona thats been on the bottle for yrs)the UK's response imo has been to soft I'm under curfew every night police are arresting folk who do not follow govt guidelines anyone caught in a social gathering is arrested with a hefty fine towns and city's sealing themselves off with only food and medical supplies able to cross disinfecting stations and temp stations all around isolation centres the keep any positives away from normal patients my sis has sent many pics of folk swaning about beaches out for a drive in convertibles mad dashing Asda's driving instructors still giving lessons and many other examples that's the bigger problem as I see it

I think it's been in China for a very long time and has mutated in us to a deadly strain for us I say this because I had a workmate who in the 15 years I worked with him at 2 different factories never had a day off work.

In mid November he bacame really ill high temp sweating his wife had to change the bed sheets twice a night raging sore throat he ended up in Morriston with what they said was a pneumonia caused by a virus.

He cam back to work 9th Dec and we went to nuneaton on a works related trip on the 11th he was coughing and still not 100% right we came back on 12th and he went off work again until the 3rd week of January.

Everybody in work had sore throats and sweats and a few were off I had it for about 2 weeks but didn't take time off.

We all called it the farmer virus cos his nickname is Al farmer.

And why I say it's been around along time is because he had been to China to look over and see in operation a laser cutter We we're having made there.

He is fine now but said before we finished work for furlough last Wednesday all the symptoms they describe for covid 19 he had

He said it felt like he was dying it was so hard to breathe he had loads of oxygen at Morriston hospital.

That's why I think the majority of us where we work have probably had it.

Look at how quickly people are dying, while we know it exists and are actively trying to prevent the spread with mass global lockdown

Do you really think we had sporadic cases of it from September to January and people were just surviving and not transmitting by luck?

My own sister had a 3 day bad cold and has now convinced herself she has antibody immunity

something else that hasn’t even been proven is possible yet

Oh and someone said there is only 1 virus but there are apparently already 2 strains and any vaccine needs to be able to cover both "

I (mr) was in Portugal for a football trip recently. When I got back I had no energy for days and was really tired. Then I got a cough, high temp and terrible headaches for three days in a row that nothing I took would take away.

That was 5/6 weeks ago and I still have a cough that comes and goes and get chest pains

I’m just saying that in under 2 months of it hitting britain we have daily death tolls of around 1000 people ... that is how quickly this spread and how deadly it is

Unless they have hugely miscalculated the incubation period its not possible that we had it in the uk last year, unchecked, undiagnosed and no measures in place to stop the spread because those deaths would have made it apparently obvious

I don’t doubt these people were sick and that it was probably a bad virus, but the science shows it can’t have been what we are fighting now

Strep throat was doing the rounds in Feb my daughter who's asthmatic had it was really ill but because she's asthmatic slightest cold sniffle etc were straight to the docs so she was litterally on antibiotics within 2 days of feeling not well, all symptoms. Similar to covid and ended up in total having 3 lots of antibiotics and steroids, my younger son was ill for a week with it but didn't need antibiotics, this time of year is alwsy particularly bad when the weather is changing, folks heating is on its off, its sunny its raining loads of bugs flying around, my personal. Opinion is covid itself perhaps isn't that bad but if its attaching itself onto someone with another bug or virus that's flooring the people who haven't got underlying issues, they're only testing for covid they're not testing to see if there are any other infections going on at the same time
