He also tried to buy exclusive international rights to a vaccine being developed by a German company.

That's an incite into his confrontational win/lose view of the world.

This will not go well across the pond with their toxic healthcare system.

Indeed it won't. The USA has a health sector, not a health service.

As has been said before; the American Dream - get sick, go bankrupt.

the problem is that trump has been treating a public health emergency issue as if it was an economic inconvienience.

and he has found an opponent he can't belittle in a tweet..... he can't blame the "deep state"....

this may be the first time in his administration where if people are being asked if they should believe him, or his experts a lot of people on all sides are saying "the bloody experts!!!!"

There are still plenty that will blindly follow him and will accept him pinning the blame on others.

People find it very difficult to admit that they were catastrophically wrong because it says so much about their own judgement.

Anyway, there will be someone along to defend him on this thread soon I'm sure

He's been trying hard to shift the blame to China.

I won't defend Trump because he's an idiot but I would say the the US health sector with 35 ICU beds per 100,000 head of population (almost twice the European average) is better placed than most countries to deal with Corona. It's predicted to be overwhelmed.

Maybe it's time to stop trying to score irrelevant political points against each other and instead think about the enormity of the crisis that faces us all.

"

Except we are talking about man who shut the department planning for a pandemic, denied a problem, then has blamed everyone else for the situation in the USA and tried to buy exclusive rights to a potential vaccine.

This is not points scoring. This is a discussion about an apparently much admired man who is making decisions that effect us all.

It is very relevant as he is not thinking about the enormity of the crisis. I want to know what justifies this behaviour in a world leader.

Where are his defenders now that the victims of his behaviour are not so easy to demonise?

It's great that the US has so many critical care beds. Nothing to do with Teump. It's not so great that a sick person will need to pay for treatment.

They just cannot justify this behaviour it seems.

I wonder how long it will be before they're back...

Wasn't Trump recently praised (on CNN of all places) for his handling of this crisis? Part of the praise was because it was so bipartisan.

Do you have a link to this "praise"?

Are they just saying well done for acknowledging that it exists?

If you want to give your own opinion then do you think it's been handled well?

in February he said it was a hoax created by the democrats - yes he said this.

later he stated the 16 cases of the virus would be zero - because he is doing a good job - the best ever job on it.............................................................

Say why his approach to Corona virus has been the correct one and how the performance of the stock market has reflected his economic skills.

Alternatively say nothing.

People on this forum have been very vocal before.

I'm curious to know if this was the final failure.

Quite possibly the talk of war against the virus and blaming China and Europe and everyone else will work to change the perception.

Silence so far though.

Why shouldn't he be taken to task about what spouts out of his mouth.

All he is bothered about is $ that the stock market has crashed - which he is inflated on - a mountain of man made gold and dollars.

After all he sacked - in 2018, the government’s entire pandemic response chain of command was disbanded fired.

Trump shut down the global health security unit within the NSC, and the DHS epidemic team was also pushed out. No one was ever replaced.

This fact caused a ripple effect of panic in many federal and state programs while the news spread of the Coronavirus in China. If the virus was to spread in the U.S., there is no playbook on how to respond.

Why did Trump decide the pandemic response team was dispensable? Simple. It was another part of Obama’s legacy that he felt the need to destroy.

Trump has a mouth brain disconnect. Not even his press liaison staff try to justify what he says and does. He has an inferiority complex at the same time as NPD and a competition between his IQ and EQ to see which can set the bar lower.

What is astounding is that anyone ever voted for him. Joe Exotic was a better choice...

Get a grip.

How is asking someone's supporters why their actions are positive "silly"?

Something that nobody at all has managed to do on this thread.

" the problem is that trump has been treating a public health emergency issue as if it was an economic inconvienience "

The orange pillock had an interview with fox news " who are beautiful "

And he pointed the finger - blamed the new york mayor for the crisis. In his lack of planning....

Like a 8 year old child in a the school yard, he then goes on to say " he wants to see churches packed full for easter "

What the fuck is this Orange Moran on ?

This

we can do without silly threads

So you think that what happens in the USA won't affect us at all?"

The main things that effect us from the USA are their foreign policy, (which barely changes between presidents), and their environmental policies (which is drastically worse under their current regime).

The way they handle the virus won't impact us as much. Just silly stuff like Trump trying to buy the "cure" exclusively for Americans. Which is just too bond villan-esque to be anything but funny.

I'm thinking long term really, and not in terms of how their handling of the virus may affect us.

The situation in the USA could get quite tricky in the next few weeks, politically as well as virus related, and how it all turns out could eventually have implications for everyone.

Personally I'd like to see someone put a bullet through Trumps brain, before the orange moron does any further damage.

Unlikely though, unfortunately."

The problem is that Trump is just a puppet. Get rid of him and you'll get another puppet in his place.

Dwight Eisenhower first spoke of the Industrial Military complex. The last free satesman was probably Kennedy. If you follow Robert Reich you understand how the American government has been bought by Big Money. Our government is no different.

Do you remember asking me why I shouldn't pay my fair share of tax.

Well here's your answer. The government has bailed out everyone in the country EXCEPT the directors of LLC's.

Now the question is reversed why shouldn't I also receive protection from the government. Why isn't the government standing behind me like the said they would? Cuts both ways

3 million people have signed onto unemployment in the USA.

Is this no longer a measure of Trump's success?

He had no more influence on employment rising than he has on it falling.

He did increase employment. People need 3 jobs just to make ends meet

The average wage is the same as it ever was for middle to low income earners. It's only the super rich who cashed in.

While we are talking about Trump's handling of Coronavirus maybe we should be looking closer to home. While Boris should be doing everything he can to keep the economy going he is still being petty by going after contractors.

Brexit check.

Nailing contractors. Check.

Getting a good deal on ventilators with the EU. Oooops no. Dropped the ball on that one. Too busy with the above. Too bad people will die without ventilators because Boris was too busy getting Brexit done.

Trump is America's problem not ours. Fun to watch and comment on but our problem is just as bad.

The orange air brushed don believes he alone highhandedly, runs the economy and there are no other players in this.

It is all about him and no one else, a sociopath devoid of human compassion.

This is how crazy he is, the american people run the U.S dump nuts.

His godly success is the stock market - its how he is judging himself - the stock market bust & crash and job losses nearing 4 million. He has failed to act on the pandemic - " the worst ever results in the world "

So the pentagon and FBI and homeland knew about this pandemic probs before it got to the news in December, so turnip trump had 3 months to prepare the pandemic plan.................

Trump is a nut case, anyone with any sense at all knows it, because it's as plain as the nose on your face, you see his idiotic actions nearly everyday.

You can be sure, it trump gets the virus and needs a ventilator, he will get one, but yet he's holding back the distribution of what they have now and the production of new ones for the people who need them now and the tens of thousands that will need them in the very near future. These ventilators are life saving machines. His careless actions, not could, but will case the death of hundreds if not thousands before this pandemic is over.

Everyone everywhere, please be safe and protect the ones you love !

He's trying to get "a better deal" from GM. He claims they are asking too much together with the ventilator company for tooling up a factory from scratch in a matter of weeks and lining up suppliers to build thousands of machines.

He can't help himself. Trying to be in control of something to say that he did something vaguely positive by trying to save a few dollars whilst people are dying.

Unbelievable by totally believable

Where are his defenders?

He's now pretending that he's forced them to do it, after they said they'd already started hiring.

Weird, but not weird given his reality.

Did I just see Trump promise 100000 ventilators in 100 days?

His total lack of understanding of this crisis, is going to come back and bite him big time! When Americans are dying in their hundreds everyday, then the electorate might wake up and see him for what he is.

Ordering GM and Ford to start producing immediately is nonsensical. These are car plants.

Yes, they can be adapted but it will take weeks. Car plants buy everything in, they assemble cars on dedicated production lines. Getting the supply chain adapted and upto speed is a logistical nightmare.

Just loudly saying that "America is great" over and over again, is not going to stop Americans dying in their thousands.

"Weird, but not weird given his reality."

And that, there, is the problem, "his reality".

He's been sheltered from actual reality his entire life. Born into massive wealth and never having been told "No" have meant he's never had to grow up and, consequently, has the mindset of a toddler who always gets his way.

There are plenty of people like him, the world over; but he's dangerous - particularly now - because he's POTUS.

The superhuman patience of those round him giving him expert advice because they know better than he does is remarkable.

The normal response to him would be "Shut the fuck up, you fucking moron! You've no idea what you're talking about. Fuck off and stop making things worse."

Sadly, respect for the Office of POTUS is so sacrosanct that nobody will call him out for his idiocy.

There are people who think that the world is flat.

There are people who think that having unprotected sex with a virgin cures AIDS.

There are people who believe FGM is the right thing to do.

I am not "getting over" that.

There are objective truths in the world. Just believing something on the thinnest of "evidence" just because other people agree does not make it correct.

It's not "bait". It's a very easy to understand question.

Answer of you are interested. Ignore if you are not.

If you do not wish to answer why post?

If it's because you enjoy "annoying" people then that is illustrative of the kind of person you are but does not inform the topic.

You would think so, if you used any kind of reasoning or rationality. But Trumps approval rating are now the highest they been since he started. It's insane. All the trump supporters I've spoken to are in just complete denial.

It's not even the stupid stuff like him getting the population of Seoul mixed up with it's altitude, but that he did so *whilst* berating someone else and trying to prove how "clever" he is. He did that in a press conference. Imagine what he is doing behind the scenes in his "infinite wisdom".

As bad as this is looking for the US, I've a feeling telfon-Trump might still come out OK.

the thing is everyone rallies around around a president during a wartime type crisis...

rallied around carter at the being of the iran crisis... rallies around the bushes during the gulf war.... rallied around bush during 9/11

trump is making error after error in states he needs to win in november, for example going after the governor of michigan in that state isn't a wisest idea, because those "attack ads" against him write themselves come sept/oct....

the longer this goes on... and the longer it looks like the governors in the states are leading the responses, the worse it will be for trump!

and the problem is this whole crisis management uses every skill he doesn't have!

playing it down initially was a mistake!

not taking any responsibility for being caught out and dropping the ball is a mistake!

not being brutally honest with people is a mistake!

the democrats are in a tricky position, they don't have to be super critical now, all they have to is use his own words against him in the ads that will be played coming up towards the general.....
