EU Free Movement

Free movement of workers is a fundamental principle of the Treaty enshrined in Article 45 of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union and developed by EU secondary legislation and the Case law of the Court of Justice.

EU citizens are entitled to:

look for a job in another EU country

work there without needing a work permit

reside there for that purpose

stay there even after employment has finished

enjoy equal treatment with nationals in access to employment, working conditions and all other social and tax advantages

EU nationals may also have certain types of health & social security coverage transferred to the country in which they go to seek work

What a crock of shit, GERMANY has closed its borders as have other EU countries

This is the death of the EU

One thing I will add though is this...

If we end up talking and moving ourselves into a gigantic world wide recession "which it looks that way currently" then once it's all over, vaccines have been created and the mortality rate drops to common flu levels by next spring then once the green shoots of recovery start to grow after potentially millions of people have been put out of work, thousands of companies have gone to the wall, we won't have a mass tide of cheap desperate foreign labour rolling over the continent to the 1st EU state that starts creating jobs.

EU have now closed all its borders so non eu members cant get in and no this is not the end of the eu it is just cos of until the corona virus is over, can brits still travel there?

This is from the European Commission. Guess what, we had the right to do all sorts of things in the EU. Who'd have guessed?

"The Schengen Borders Code provides Member States with the capability of temporarily reintroducing border control at the internal borders in the event that a serious threat to public policy or internal security has been established.

The reintroduction of border control at the internal borders must remain an exception and must respect the principle of proportionality. The scope and duration of such a temporary reintroduction of border control at the internal borders is limited in time and should be restricted to the bare minimum needed to respond to the threat in question.
