Potential defeat for the government if enough Tories rebel. Do you think they should? Or is the government right to trust Huawei?

I distrust Huawei, so would be happy if they were defeated.

I suppose we could have a situation where Tory MPs fly to Afghanistan for a twenty minute meeting to avoid having to vote against the government

I prefer to trust MI5 rather than the Americans. The sad fact is we cwnnot do this ourselves this is the real problem.

Trust should be placed in our own security services and our decisions should be based from our own expert advice and not the hand wringing and subtle economic threats of foreign states.

Not heard much of the debate but there appears to be quite a few Tory MPs unhappy, both those making speeches and those intervening. Although whether or not this will transfer into votes against their own government is still to he seen , I would imagine the Tory whips and Cummings are now pressuring the new intake to do as they are told

So what's the alternative?

Probably American technology. Of course, they're not going to spy on us...

Which does also raise the question are the US intelligent services telling us about Huawei to help the US IT industry.

Anyone who thinks the Chinese won't be able to spy on us anyway is kidding themselves.

That said, there's no need to make it easier for them.

Give Ericsson a call.
