Made by a Polish company, being investigated for its working practices.

A company in France makes them.

You can still use the purple one until it expires.

Welcome to post brexit Britain.

The place where people celebrate changing the colour of the passport (which we could have done anytime we wanted).

Meanwhile ignoring the fact that it's now a less valuable passport (IE longer queues and no right to work and travel as freely in the EU).

so do you think just because we have left the eu we should stop doing business with them? love the way remainers cling to the myth that the uk wants to isolate its self from the rest of Europe.

We will of course (hopefully) continue trading with the EU. Under their rules and standards, with no say on the creation of those rules and standards.

Think you're confused. We're talking about our UK passports and how we can no longer use them to travel and work freely in EU countries.

The people who orchestrated Brexit are either not British, got themselves and their families EU passports, or are so rich they don't give a fuck.

(Incidentally I reckon you’re wrong. Even the most imbecilic brexiter knows that we can’t afford to lose our largest trade partner)

Not confused at all it seems to me its only remainers who seem to think the colour of a passport and where it is made matters to leavers.

I’m not fussed about the colour. Not where it’s made.

I am bothered by the loss of rights that it entails though. I think it’s weird that people would willingly sacrifice their rights so easily.

If we want to trade with the EU we will have to comply with their trade regulations. That’s not even up for discussion. I’m gobsmacked that you would even think otherwise.

How do you think trading standards are maintained in a bloc?

You do realise surely that to trade with the EU our goods and services will have to comply with their standards

Just as meat from the USA does not and thus , erm they dont buy it

You seem most confused

So yes to trade with the EU the UK will have to adhere to standards the UK will no longer have any influence over

Erm

Yes and they all conform to EU regulations on the goods the EU receives

See where this is going

And that's 36 yes 36 trade agreements the UK will have to renegotiate

See how long that takes

See where this is going ?

Oh and part of the EU free trade agreement is the EU takes a priority over smaller individual trade deals like for example a new one with the UK

See where this is going

The EU will insist on a level playing field which means the U.K. will not be able to compete with other companies within the EU because they will still want ultimate control on who gets what contracts to supply goods.

This is not good for the U.K. as an independent and so a free deal will be almost impossible.

It’s better therefore to turn our attention to the rest of the world and forget trying to get a good deal with them.

Or we might as well have stayed a full member but then again the same would apply because the EU wants total control of all borders outside the EU.

We are not going to be better off trading with the rest of the world and ignoring the EU.

Just in time manufacturing and food produce/shelf life determine that geographical location is vital in trade.

We’ve essentially not left yet - we’re still members in all but name.

We have until June to see progress - if not we will have to secure an extension.

"We will see"

You say

"You are saying if we dont abide by their rules , the UK will not have any trade with the EU????, . Ya see, this level of knowledge is what I’m talking about"

Indeed we will see

So let's be clear

We say goods and services the UK supplies the EU will have to adhere to their standards

And you suggest they will able to be below yet trade on an equal footing

Indeed we will see

We’ve essentially not left yet - we’re still members in all but name.

We have until June to see progress - if not we will have to secure an extension. "

But then asking for another extension will put the U.K. on an even weaker position and the EU a stronger one.

The only way is to be prepared to walk away from the table because it will just drag on and on and I can’t see the EU letting the U.K. do that.

The vote was done and the result was we were to leave no matter what side anyone was on we have to now live with it.

The EU will just keep on with their basic red lines on free movement and level playing field and will not move from that as they cannot without stepping down and showing weakness.

Like it or not the UK will have to look elsewhere for trade

Everyone has to adhere to trading standards if the uk,s are higher they will have to adhere to that too nobody is disputing that. The point is people are getting rules mixed up with standards,if the eu want the uk to conform with workers rights, government subsidies, be under the jurisdiction of the ecj etc which none of their other free trade partners have to then there will be no agreement.

In July 2019, ( upon Boris coming to power), all Eu senior negotiations and senior personnel and many heads of state all stated unequivocally that the withdrawal agreement would not be re- opened or re negotiated .

And then;

In a matter of days they did the exact opposite once the political situation in the UK changed. Johnny Foreigner doesnt like it up ‘em. Never had, never will. Unelected bureaucrats.

What makes it less valuable is that the citizenship that this passport represents no longer gives you the right to live and work in 27 countries with minimal impediment as long as you are working.

You do not see this? You only see your citizenship and passport as a travel document?

Who cares what colour it is then? Do you care what colour your airline ticket is?

"... you will only be able to enter the EU for 90 days at a time"

And that's during a six-month period. Totting-up procedure, hassle going from a "Schengen" EU country to another, ESTA (Electronic System for Travel Authorisation) to be introduced for Brits...

And my new passport won't even be blue!

"Welcome to post brexit Britain.

The place where people celebrate changing the colour of the passport (which we could have done anytime we wanted).

Meanwhile ignoring the fact that it's now a less valuable passport (IE longer queues and no right to work and travel as freely in the EU).

That doesn't make it less "valuable". . You can still enter the same amount of countries ya tit.

Enter them under different terms though. By January you will only be able to enter the EU for 90 days at a time

Without a Visa and so what in any case ? How many people can afford to go for that long lots of places require a Visa or waiver nor noticed it stopping people going. "

Well none anymore.but young people used to be able to travel and work in Europe freely.

Just because you have no interest in that, doesn't mean it has no value.

The premise remains the same. The new blue passport just represents less rights we have being out of the EU.

Not even being made by a British company "

To be fair, there are specialist printing services in britain who make passports for other countries - should they be barred from doing so?

Who said I have no interest in travelling ? we have been in France 7 wks so far and have another 4 to go, next year it will be 7 or 8, if we have to get a visa who cares, it wont be any bother but if the EU doesn't want our money then we will go to Canada or the states instead.

There will be plenty of work opportunities for young brits if they want them, I was only reading the other day in the local french paper that their is a shortage of workers to do the sort of work that young travellers do, just the same as in the UK EU youth want well paid easy work not jobs they have been told they are too clever for, parts of eastern europe are being emptied of their youth as they WILL do these jobs full time instead of as part of a gap year etc eyc

Having your employment opportunities curtailed is not just a first world problem.

Time spent on this site and filling out an immigration form are not comparable activities. Why draw such a pointless parallel?

If you are the right person for the job you will be able to take it just like in many other countries, if you're talking about low skilled seasonal jobs then perhaps a little research might show that many European countries are in the same position as the uk, many of the young dont want low paid jobs unless it involves travel to another country, the better of parts of the EU are full of kids from the poorer areas which are complaining about their area being left with the old and infirm, was reading an article in a french paper about this subject only this week, just as there will opportunities in the uk for seasonal jobs for eu citizens there will be for uk young there and if you are older and want a job you will just have to meet the criteria set just as you do in the states.

It is quite interesting to see the attitudes in France to all this, if you think the uk has issues with immigration then you should have seen what's said about Turkey's threat to open its borders

Blimey.

But you do understand that we lose the right to live and travel freely for as long as we like in the EU? Or are you disputing the actual facts?

Here is some actual information about how the British passport is devalued after brexit based on the

Quality of nationality index.

No. Just like here there is a preference not to go to the extra cost and time of taking on a foreign national.

The EU now has 27 other countries to choose from with ease.

UK citizens are then competing with Americans, Canadians and Chinese for the same job if they cannot find someone easily.

Seasonal jobs will still need an application process.

Enjoy your bubble.

The value of a passport is ranked, by how many countries you can enter without a visa. We have gone from joint first, to joint sixth. It is expected to drop further after brexit has been completed.
