Can't be much output during dark stormy weather. How will Scandinavia cope when they give up fossil? Especially as their population is soo spread about.

It depends on the diversity of the sources. Solar power at the north pole is tough during winter long days. If you have tidal, other hydro power, on and offshorewind generation, any geo-thermal etc, then you have greater resiliency.

Storage facilities also help to retain power during peak genefation and surplus, for use at times of greater needs, in excess of generation capacity. There are more movements today looking at storage, to help to address this.

Theres still enormous potential in many places, including the UK, for photovoltaic generation - most homes and businesses don't have it.

Many places also have poor insulation and energy inefficiencies. We can also modify what we perceive as essential
