That said, the same sentiment has been articulated on here by many Brexiters too so I don’t really understand your point. What about you? Are you hoping that the EU continues to be the largest and most successful economic and political union in the world and perhaps becomes even better now that it is rid of its dragging anchor? | |||

Our economy has grown almost constantly since 1973. It had spikes in 1975 and 1992. Then a big dip in 2016. Our economic success has been intrinsically linked to our EU membership. Have a look at the trade value between the UK and nations like Poland before and after their EU membership. | |||

Well they were part of the Soviet Union (they didn't fare to well under socialism) before joining the EU (and receiving shed loads of EU money) and now are doing quite well but have voted in an anti EU prime minister. The UK were 5th in the world before joining the EU and have moved up to the ranks of err 5th when leaving. Of course capitalism is the true driver of wealth, some say the EU over regulates this and causes slow growth, others say without it we'll end up like China, I think the real decline in UK GDP will come from the fact we've driven children into idiocy with a red tape over arching all encompassing government structure that kills problem solving and creativity. | |||
