Libya - Turkey and Syria move in

Our media seems pre-occupied with Iran, but there's a much more interesting development elsewhere.

Last week in Ankara, Russia, Syria and Turkey got together to carve out an agreement on the remaining 10% of Syria where "terrorists" are holed up - the Idlib neighbourhood.

Then, at the weekend, the Russians brought the warring sides in Libya together to sign a truce in Moscow.

(Remember Libya, the country wrecked by NATO bombardment and gripped by civil war ever since?)

Turkey and Russia are on opposite sides in Libya but both have their eyes on the commercial prizes that come with stable government.

Turkey has sent troops to Libya and now Syria is also sending troops to Libya.

The jihadis in Syria, now facing a new, combined onslaught, are said also to be migrating to Libya.

The EU is pouring money into humanitarian projects in Libya to stem the refugee tide. France and italy are on opposite sides but the west generally has abandoned Libya, so the Russians and Turks are moving in.

Mrs Merkel is backing Mr Putin's peace initiative - the rebel leader left Moscow without signing the truce - and Germany is hosting a peace conference this weekend.

Hopefully, this will lead to some stability for Libya under the influence of the new regional power-brokers - Russia and Turkey.

Trump isn't interested in peace.

He's said repeatedly he wants nothing to do with the Middle East and wants US troops out.

Two things motivate his attack on Iran:

a) His love of Israel - the US in effect is now a proxy of Israel foreign policy

b) Business - his son-in-law is trying to broker an £80bn deal with Saudi for US nuclear technology.

The blame for Libya, however, lies principally with Cameron and Sarkozy, who saw an opportunity for a foreign policy "win" unconstrained by their political difficulties on the domestic front.

Geo politics at its finest. The russians are now firmly established in the Med, the US has less need for middle eastern oil due to self sufficiency (fracking) and the turks are now buying russian air defence systems. Anyone see any correlation between these things?

Sometimes stability is good even if it's not perfect.

The Arabs for centuries have been warring tribes only unified by a dominating over force, it's part of their culture, dictators have held the place together for decades and there removal had consequences.

I am still mystified why we got into all this shit given that Saddam was our buddy and a strong dictator? Whose benefit was it all to? Any thoughts?

The Russians have made the chess move, over the past week, as all the world has been watching the Iran - Trump crisis playing like a soap opera - war game.

Russia can now take out Libya as their own and with huge oil supply.

Russia is laughing all the way to the oil bank & at what trump is doing with his " beautiful " shiny war toys.

We - the west governments - have done his dirty work for him in its destruction - Putin - the terrible, for him, so he can invade Libya now as well as Syria - mid east.

Oil is king in Russia $ $

trump is handing the oil rich middle east on a plate to Russia and he is such a clown he doesn't have the intelligence - literally - to understand this.

Putin has won the chess game - check mate.

He doesn't believe in science or scientists, he has fired hundreds from the state that were working on climate and global and bio / eco. All to save money " on a deal " in orange pout lips with his hands up lol

Control mostly, the crazy Arabs have started to think because they have the oil we all use they can push us around with their demands, Geo politics isn't that different to local politics or even mob rule, the hardest and deadliest lead and the rest follow.
