I don't mind talking politicians with non-swingers but got into a debate with someone about what happens in clubs. After an hour of getting nowhere I managed to nail down that the person had never been to a club

I go onto other parts of this forum and talk to people about swinging and they have had 1 cam meet in a year of swinging. But yeah they are still experts.

Yes we are criticising China for their TOTAL emissions when per capita the are somewhere about 42nd in the world, no much they can do about their population growth which btw is negative at mean 1.6 children per family.

Per capita the biggest culprit is USA. Rather than improving the situation Trump is taking away measures which Obama put in place to reduce environmental damage.

But on this forum China are the ones to blame.

The irony is that Trump's election platform was one of bringing well paid jobs back into the US and getting people back to work - and climate change, even if it wasn't real - presents a fantastic opportunity to do just that.

also - FYI, in a single year (2016) China installed more 4th generation solar that the US has in total solar capacity - and the project is ongoing.

China IS taking climare change seriously.

I can't understand why people would just look at total emissions. The planet doesn't care about borders. If you divided China into ten different countries then each of their total emissions would be further down the list but it would still be the same.

What matters is each government's environmental policy. I cannot understand the shortsightedness of making you country 'great' today at the cost of the planet tomorrow.

Wouldn't it be better to make Earth Great?

True. We really can't afford our holier than though attitude. Trump is reversing laws put in place to try and prevent the destruction of our planet and Johnson is his sidekick.

Exactly. And EU insists on it.

Basically US has become the scary superpower and we are just buttering up to them. We're as bad as they are.

I can't see UK being involved in programmes like Copernicus in future. We've already been cut out of the Galileo project....

Although, 3000BC when Stonehenge was being constructed, the ice cap was far smaller than it is now, and co2 levels were only half of what they are today.

I'd need to take the time to check the original sources as I give more value to peer reviewed papers than a news site.

But a quick pass of the article you posted rung a few alarm bells - primary production (i.e. phytoplankton growth) isn't generally temperature limited - it's nutrient limited

My understanding is that phytoplankton are sensitive to ph and that it is the acidity of the ocean that's a problem.

My info is also second hand but they were talking about methane bubbles rising from the ocean floor. The bubbles wouldn't reach the surface because they were 'eaten' by bacteria. Apparently the bacteria are so numerous now that it forms a sludge on the ocean floor killing everything under it because of its high acidity.... looking for data to confirm this...

Phytoplankton produce 66% of our oxygen. So by the time we are all old, the Amazon rain forest will be gone, (producing 20% of the world's oxygen) the young and the fit shall survive and we shall be reliant on the generation that hates our generation to keep us alive....

I survived a near fatal drowning once. Blood went into my lungs and I couldn't breathe... pretty shitty way to die if you ask me...

Great job Greta. Panic and fear are the strongest market forces. The biggest in the motor industry can now decimate competition for a while thanks to you Greta. Climate on EACH planet of the solar system was always changing. Just read about climate optimums on Earth. Does anybody still remember russian hackers who intercepted 'climate warming scientists'emails' trying to tune numbers to fit the theory? Biggest scam in history of humanity. This is why core goal was to control universities by political correctnes. Independent educated minds are uncontrollable. Don't forget plants will die without co2. Farting cows is joke. Did you know Greta has two farting dogs and keeps them just for a pleasure? What a double standards. Maybe when she stops striking, will continue her education. Primary school is not much of she still wants to preach the whole world.
