"So in the papers this morning a prominent anti Brexit lawyer is being lambasted for putting a fox trapped in chicken netting out of its misery with a baseball bat. On the same front page is a picture of a six year old dressed in hunting pink calling the hounds with a bugle. How does that sit with you all?" The story about the lawyer was weird. It's a matter for the RSPCA, who have been involved. That he was against brexit seems unrelated. The campaign's to legalise fox hunting again are underway. So it's no surprise that this stuff is in the news again.

I guess it was the hypocrisy of the “cute” fox hunting child being on the same front page as the “evil” anti brexit QC - I was wondering where some of the posters on here would place themselves with regards to this ![]()

Well, a quick death by baseball bat might be preferable to being torn apart by hounds; but did he really have to do it? I'm not so sure. As for the other part; any six year old can be raised to be an evil little shite, given the appropriate input - or lack of it - from their parents.

So the link isn’t about what he did but his political affiliations that make him a target and I am sure if he had been riding to hunt and watched a fox being ripped apart by hounds it would hardly have raised a murmur. So stop being so complacent and lazy and try to imagine why its not a weird thing to think? ![]()

"I care not for his Brexit views as they are his views and I will respect them as just that his own views but if he doesn’t support the worlds greatest football team (SOUTHEND UNITED FOOTBALL CLUB) then he can fuck right off, just my view of course. Tony" Southend are great, can you give the wombles 3 more points please, glad the mongs only managed to get just the 1 though.

"Certain questions come to mind 1) how was he to get near a wild animal with very sharp teeth and free it? Ok, call the RSPCA. 2) what is in the mind of an ordinary person whose way to deal with this is to kill? Surely not the first thought you’d have without previous. 3) whoever buys these papers? " 1) he keeps chickens and the fox was caught in the chicken netting and frantic 2) he wanted to end its suffering/put it down for good or bad intentions 3) too many people buy these stupid rags The big question is why he posted a tweet about it?

I don't believe that for a second - he had posted before about running out into the garden with a baseball bat after the fox, there was NO netting for him to get caught up in (I suspect a snare myself) and there's no way battering a fox to death is quick or painless, quite apart from being illegal. It is barbaric, I hope he is prosecuted and made an example of.

What nonsense lol lol lol ![]()

"Maybe the next question should be: Exactly how does a fox get caught in chicken netting? " Facts - He has posted pics of his chicken coop, it is made of a rigid steel mesh of a kind that a fox cannot get entangled in. He just battered an animal to death for no good reason, and he had expressed the intention to do so beforehand.

"Maybe the next question should be: Exactly how does a fox get caught in chicken netting? Oh, and Does he have a baseball ball to go with that baseball bat, and if not...... If its electrified netting very easily " Most people with common sense would simply have turned off the electrical supply work disconnected the battery...... While I would not wish to meddle with a scared fox, the chances of it being caught in well-fixed chicken mesh is zero. If it had not been put deeply enough, it would have been a simple matter to release it. However, if you are a fox-hater, perfect opportunity. My initial questions asked about who would do this. It’s not normally the first option of choice to murder anything: it takes either previous or a certain personality. And animal cruelty comes before or with, human abuse. Maybe that should be investigated...

As you say it is hard for a fox to get caught in chicken mesh but far from impossible and if it wasnt trapped in something he wouldn't have been able to hit it, as for releasing a fox from any sort of fencing, good luck with that you would be severely bitten

"Not so long ago, a whale I believe got lost, ended up in the Thames where upon a few hundred people, crying save the whale, save the whale, carrying candles, praying etc. A boat with a winch at a cost of £75000 hoisted the whale onto the boat in an attempt to save it....it died. in the 1800's a whale did the same thing, where upon the people in that part of London, raced to the scene with knives etc, proceeded to catch it, cut it up for its skin to make coats and its blubber for their oil lamps." Must have been a while ago. Whales suffocate when lifted out of water. That much has been known for quite a while.

" The River Thames whale was a juvenile female northern bottlenose whale which was discovered swimming in the River Thames in central London on Friday 20 January 2006. According to the BBC, she was five metres long and weighed about seven tonnes. The whale appeared to have been lost, as her normal habitat would have been around the coasts of the far north of Scotland and Northern Ireland, and in the seas around the Arctic Ocean. It was the first time the species had been seen in the Thames since records began in 1913. She died from convulsions as she was being rescued shortly after 19:00 GMT on 21 January 2006.

So stop being so complacent and lazy ![]() Um....It's riding WITH the (preferably named) hunt or riding to hounds (pron. "Hinds"....) And more seriously,as hounds killing foxes is illegal then yes, it ought to have raised a murmur, especially if it was a QC doing it. He was idiotic Tweeting about it.

"Can you befriend a fox?)" Absolutely. There’s a lovely clip on u tube of a fox getting its tummy tickled and wagging its tail. My friend had two as a child who were completely tame. However, as would be the case with dogs to get them as tame,, they were hand- reared from 2-3 weeks old. They are wild animals and deserve to live a wild life. Older ones will act exactly as an unhandled dog would but with much less urge to attack.
