Interesting, any analytical evidence been done on this?

I think we'll see a female leader. Not many likely males to be in the running.

Sadiq Khan maybe.. but he won't win.

I read somewhere that McDonnell would want Long-Bailey as their next leader.

Unfortunately I dislike her almost as much as Corbyn so she wouldn't get my vote at the next election.

I agree, no more momentum backed candidates.

I'd just like them to choose whoever is best, regardless of sex. It should be that way for all parties.

"I'd just like them to choose whoever is best, regardless of sex. It should be that way for all parties."

Given the stain of prejudice hanging over Labour, and the taunts of Conservatives about two female leaders, Labour needs to break free and appoint a woman.

Her first overseas trip ought to be to copy Mrs Merkel's recent trip to Auschwitz.

Wow, so sexist. So they should choose a leader based on gender.

Because she's black or because she's a woman?

"Diane Abbott "

I've often thought that the best use for Dianne Abbott would be to put her and Boris in a house together and make an Odd Couple kind of sitcom out of the pair's combined bumbling idiocy.

If she becomes Labour leader we'll kind of get that - except the house will be the house of commons and it will be more like trainwreck reality TV.

Given the level of abuse women MPs get - to the point of being murdered in Jo Cox's case - it's something any female potential candidate would be very brave to even consider.

I'd like to see Labour appoint a woman as its leader, yes. It is long overdue - the party was founded in 1900 and has only ever been lead by men.

Even I would vote for Lisa Nandy. Sensible, realistic, honest , personable, reasonable, likeable . A bit young but she would be a breath of fresh air in Labour. Watch this space. If not now then maybe in the future once the momentum experiment/ disaster recedes back into the sewer.

Labour will put a woman in because they they have to, not because they are the best candidate which is a shame.

The woman (if she get the position will always know, possibly like Swinson) that she got it based on gender not ability.

Having said that, the candidates mentioned on other threads, will not lead Labour out of the hole they are in.

Lisa Nandy and Harriet Harman are the strongest of Labours women. Phillips, Long-Bailey, Raynor, Butler, don't make the grade. Thornberry may make a fist of it but even she has had her moments.

If Labour want to win any more elections they need to somehow get rid of the momentum influence and elect a leader who is more to the centre. It doesn't matter what the gender is.

Im suprised there isnt a move to bring Tony Blair back as the Labour party is still stuffed with Blairites who voted for the Iraq war among other things.

Imagine as a Labour supporter having to choose between Momentum and Blairism .

A Lucy Powell and Lisa Nandy combo would be a dream ticket.

Unfortunately, both are Northern MPs, so unlikely to happen.
