What's an exit poll? If it's asking people who they voted for on the way out it can't be very accurate as I've never seen that happen where I live.

"What's an exit poll? If it's asking people who they voted for on the way out it can't be very accurate as I've never seen that happen where I live. "

The whole point of any opinion poll is that you ask a sample of people how they intend to or did vote - not everybody. Samples are constructed using sophisticated statistical methods to ensure that the sample is reflective of the population as a whole in terms of age, social class, gender, etc. If you ask enough people - over 1000, in fact - then you can be 95% sure that you result as predicted by the poll will be roughly the same as the actual result. Exit polls have two big advantages - they ask an awful lot of people how they actually voted. I reckon the actual result will be pretty similar to the exit poll prediction, plus or minus about five to ten seats for C and L parties.

Trouble is the focus by the media was squarely focussed on doing JC down and whilst BJ's lies and failings were highlighted they didn't get the same level of attention as pointed at JC.

The media (both press/TV and social media - where people read soundbites and take them as gospel) are what decides elections these days, not policies

Corbyn also has links with the Ira, Mountbatten a member of the royal family was killed by these members of the Ira .......... I’m confused how Corbyn was ever allowed through the doors of parliament and without a doubt labour would have had a lot more votes if he wasn’t heading them!

"I stand for labour but!! Don’t like corybn!! I hate tories and Johnson! However I’m a labour. But can’t stand labours leader. HARD

I think your comments reflect those of many traditional labour voters. I’m not a labour man myself but I think if they’d had someone like Hilary Ben as leader they could have taken a lot more people with them. "

Hard as how can I myself vote for HIM!! He’s awful, BUT, I’m labour,, hate this election

There and to the left a bit

The truth of the matter though is that *none* of the mainstream parties are credible enough to take us forward - the Tories are just too hard right and self-serving currently and Labour are just a mess - I fear for the future currently in the hands of whoever gains power.

This ^

If labour had a different leader they might have stood a chance. The worst thing they ever did was voting in the wrong Milibrand

Couldn't agree more he was a credible leader and didn't come across a a vicious spiteful person like Corbin and his jackboot wearing fanatical followers."

You know. Reading what you’ve written, you’re pretty damn spiteful too. Such an unattractive quality babe.

"Well it looks as though Corbin really fucked up! A man people just can't trust.

Amazing isn't it, when it was the other chap shown to be lying over and over again.

Was this not clearly going to be the case as soon as JC became the Labour leader?

Shocking stratigic planning to still have him there now.

Trouble is whoever it had been would have had the same battle - because the media fat cats gain from a Tory win they'll always slant that way regardless of who the opposition was - for what it's worth I agree that JC wasn't the right man personally but not sure Labour have anyone that would have fared better - what was needed to stand a chance was someone with Blair's charisma but Corbyn's ideals and they just don't have anyone like that sadly "

That’s exactly what a lot of people I know who would normally vote Labour thought. They didn’t vote Conservative but couldn’t vote for Labour with Corbyn in charge either

I'm pretty sure you came here for fun and to share something in common, why bring in something which was divisive, would cause an argument and resentment.

No, because I don't buy into the media smears - but I do buy into social reform and moving away from the selfish state and where those truly in need get the support they need, where healthcare is available and schools are properly funded and the other ideals he holds.

I've made it perfectly clear that JC was not necessarily the right man but nor is BJ frankly - as I've also said I don't think any of the mainstream parties are *currently* what we need to move forward as a country but as long as the media control elections in the way they do, and people continue to buy into the rhetoric and lies (from all sides) and maintain a selfish attitude towards the general well being of others, I very sadly can't see a great deal changing and I find *that* a very scary prospect regardless of what anyones politics are.

It's because this is important. I seriously believe that real damage has been done to this country, and it is now going to continue.

I also don't think deluded is a particularly strong or offensive thing to say.

You've stated your not a Labour voter, so maybe your own bias is showing in your reading of this thread.

Without bias, look at each post. I think you'll find it's pretty even.

No not at all. I respect other people’s right to vote for who they want to vote for.

And yes, I have read every political post this evening and no it’s not even.

I said this thread.

The worst in this was "jackboot wearing fanatical followers" that doesn't seem particularly respectful. Or even close to true. Jackboots tend to be associated with Nazis, which is missing the point a bit when talking about socialists surely?

"

Fair enough. I was referring to all the threads about the election on fab this evening. I apologise I should have made that clearer.

"Let's just hope the conservatives fulfil the promises they've made for the people that have changed alliances..... "

I agree, maybe they will end austerity uphold their manifesto promises, deliver Brexit within 100 days I doubt it but I am willing to give them the benefit of doubt

"Boris hid in a fridge to avoid an interview with GMTV, yet a few weeks prior he said she would have an interview.

And Diane abbopotomus went out wearing two odd left shoes

Omg I see that, yes she did! Why ?

She's diabetic, which can cause foot swelling, and apparently some sufferers do wear shoes in this way.or she can't even get dressed by her self ! And she wants to be Home Secretary she's clueless "

I’ve never heard of diabetics needing to wear 2 left shoes

She’s a joke x

I'm an average working class unwoke 40 something, not on a fortune but not on skid row either.

If labour drop the intersectionality nonsense and win me back they'll win the next election.
