There are msny lies by the tories as stated in other posts, but the one that grinds my gears is the bare faced bastardry of the tories regarding the disabled, vulnerable and disadvantaged in the uk.

Bristol East

It was a point made by Mrs Merkel to Mr Cameron.

She could understand his decision to call a referendum if unemployment was high. It wasn't, it was low. To her, this made no sense whatsoever.

Thanks for posting this. Exactly the same thing is happening in America. America is booming and we're all getting rich says Trump. Yet 48% of Americans earn less than $32000 per annum.

Like someone said, Ive got three of those jobs and still can't make ends meets.

Er. Not me. It was some on a talk show. Some Tory was bragging about how unemployed has decreased and someone pointed out that nobody is earning more. They just need to take on multiple jobs to earn a living.

There are msny lies by the tories as stated in other posts, but the one that grinds my gears is the bare faced bastardry of the tories regarding the disabled, vulnerable and disadvantaged in the uk. "

The way that employment and unemployment is measured is part of EU legislation.

From the EU's website about the LFS -

"The principal legal act is Council Regulation (EC) No 577/98 of 9 March 1998 on the on the organisation of a continuous, quarterly sample survey in the Community. The main regulation lays down the provisions on design, survey characteristics and decision-making processes.

The principal legal act was amended by several general regulations in 2002, 2003 and 2007.

In addition, implementing regulations specify further detail, in particular on coding and classifications. The latest of these (Commission Regulation (EC) No 377/2008) provides the 2009 codification, including the compulsory survey characteristic 'income' and the general definition of reference quarters."

EU regulation 1897/2000 sets out the definitions of unemployment to be used in the LFS.

The author of the article you refer to lists as unemployment that is not counted the following things;

Students

Pensioners

Early retirees

People who work in the home

Which are not recognised as unemployed under EU regulations.

So the UK just missed falling into a recession despite employment being at its highest since the 70s because of?

(not including loads of people on insecure, zero hrs and on low pay )
