On December 2, for a two-day NATO summit in Hertfordshire.

He's got a record of being petulant and insulting at these events.

I think this visit might be good news for Mr Corbyn's campaign.

What do you think?

Ah, but what's the real reason for the visit? I'll start the rumour now that he knows the impeachment is about to go nuclear, so he's going to ask boris for political asylum...

I think all remainers need to vote lib dems

Beyond that I think trump a vile racist petulant hate preacher man child and I find it frightening so many in the UK support him

I'll re iterate unless All remain voters vote lib dems the UK will fall Tory and leave the EU

My prediction too many remainers will vote according to standard form the vote splits and the UK will be out and one more step closer to America's way

We could have legitimately have laughed our arses off at America for voting him in. But sadly we lost the right to laugh at people voting stupidly.

I never understood the hate directed at "Make America great again". I mean surely that's a good thing if you're American? Was the democrat slogan "Continue America's decline"?

I think it was the resonance with fascist slogans in the 1930s that alarmed people, rather than the sentiment behind it.

Unless of course a constituency is evenly split between Labour and Tory, then a vote for LibDem would let the Tory in.

It's to do with ensuring that the equipment meets STANAG specifications so that it is interchangeable. Turkey buying Soviet S400 anti aircraft systems means they can't be integrated with other NATO countries equipment which would lead to air defence having vulnerable gaps if it was ever needed.

Why would it be good for dear old Jezza?

It's a NATO summit, might as well suggest that Merkle's presence is a good thing for Mr.Corbyn or any other visiting head of state from the many NATO contributees who'll be there.

Corbyn hasn't much good to say about NATO or UK armed forces, probably favours the projected EU army over NATO too.

Again, probably more benefit for our comrade from EU heads of states who are NATO members than Trump.

The only two American Presidents who have been impeached were Andrew Johnson and Bill Clinton, both of whom were Democrats. In both cases however the Senate did not convict them.

I imagine the same will happen with Trump.

Coincidentally being impeached didn’t stop Clinton being elected for a second term of office.

"Thanks just answered the question nato countries dont have to buy from the usa."

EMMANUEL MACRON IN HIS OWN WORDS

The Economist Interview, published Nov 7:

"NATO was designed in response to an enemy: the Warsaw Pact. In 1990 we didn’t reassess this geopolitical project in the slightest when our initial

enemy vanished. The unarticulated assumption is that the enemy is still

Russia.

"it’s also true that when we intervene in Syria against terrorism, it’s not actually NATO that intervenes. We use NATO's interoperability mechanisms, but it’s an ad hoc coalition. So, the question about the present purpose of NATO is a real question that needs to be asked.

"Particularly by the United States. In the eyes of President Trump, and I completely respect that, NATO is seen as a commercial project. He sees it as a project in which the United States acts as a sort of geopolitical

umbrella, but the trade-off is that there has to be commercial exclusivity, it’s an arrangement for buying American products. France didn’t sign up for

that."

Speaking of Korea, Trump is doing exactly the same there that he is doing to NATO.

South Korea currently contributes $890m a year to the US in return for 30,000 US troops stationed in South Korea.

Technically, the US and South Korea are still at war with North Korea.

And Trump's little fat friend in the North says his time is being wasted doing PR photo-ups with President Bonespurs, No more, he says.

“We are no longer interested in such talks that bring nothing to us. As we have got nothing in return, we will no longer gift the U.S. president with something he can boast of, but get compensation for the successes that President Trump is proud of as his administrative achievements.”

Many a true word said in jest.

The geopolitical order that has held sway since 1945 - the one whereby the US has guaranteed the security of countries committed to democratic capitalism - is being ripped up by Bonespurs.

He ain't interested, unless US factories are reaping the rewards.

Maybe Trump would like you to think that.

Have a look at the 38 North website, and you'll see how the NK military-industrial complex is expanding, not shrinking.

Trump saw NK as a real estate opportunity, but his little fat friend doesn't want to play ball.

So now he senses an opportunity to black-mail the south by threatening to walk away.

Every US president since 1945, their foreign policy objective has been to maintain US influence around the world in the name of democratic capitalism.

Not this one - he doesn't care. He just wants cash. Like a gangster running a protection racket.

Just wait until he discovers how little the UK pays the US for Trident missiles.

If the US military was a country, it would rank 47th in the list of carbon emitters - somewhere between Peru and Portugal.

A military that vast needs to keep itself occupied.

It's not as lucrative for the arms manufacturers if the US army is at home.

You haven't said that, you're just repeating slogans without thinking (brainless).

Political beliefs and feelings are personal.

It's annoying when people try to push there way of thinking onto you. Trying to influence you with their (so called) knowledge. Like him or loathe him Trump is President for however long he has left or re-elected or impeached (or however its spelt)..

Same way some like Corbyn, some like Boris..

Like them but dont try to jram your beliefs down my throat. I am big and ugly enough to make my own decisions.

.

Oh yes the wannabe gangster!!, no more than Corbyn is or anybody else that desires to assume power.

It's part of the game and the whole reason why the West was set up alongside checks and balances, what really needs to be asked is, is what trump did with South Korea in the USAs interests, most Americans would say yes, just like they would with the Ukraine, does it favour him politically, no doubt but again which politican doesn't use power to favour themselves.

Trump is ready to abandon another treaty that is the cornerstone of the European security architecture.

The Open Skies Agreement, which allows 30-odd countries, including US and Russia, to overfly territory to verify military agreements are being observed.

NATO members are not impressed.

"Trump is ready to abandon another treaty that is the cornerstone of the European security architecture.

The Open Skies Agreement, which allows 30-odd countries, including US and Russia, to overfly territory to verify military agreements are being observed.

NATO members are not impressed.

"

It’s not as simple as the US wants to quit.

The American aircraft are over 50 years old and have maintenance issues, one American aircraft had to make an emergency landing in Russia during an Open Skies sortie.

The treaty predates digital cameras and the Russians replaced the wet film camera systems in their aircraft in 2017 which at the time was felt would benefit them greatly compared to the other nations.

Europe and the US are also concerned about Russian non compliance with the treaty.

Critics of the treaty have complained that Russia restricts flights near the Russian exclave of Kaliningrad and the Georgian border-conflict regions of South Ossetia and Abkhazia.

The U.S. responded with flight restrictions over parts of Hawaii and Alaska.

In 2018 there were no over flights conducted by the US or Russia due to their various disputes.

Trump administration officials also challenged NATO ally Germany’s plan to test a new infrared sensor in a flight over the United States in 2020, arguing it would open the door for Russia to do the same.

Another U.S. concern is a claim that there’s no way under the Open Skies Treaty for signatories to know if Russia is surreptitiously gathering intelligence on U.S. forces while en route to its scheduled overflights.

For example, the U.S. was concerned Russia’s aircraft would focus its sensors on American forces in Poland while flying to Germany. (Cameras on Open Skies aircraft are supposed to be covered during transit flights between the host nation and the area being surveilled.)

Treaty opponents argue commercial satellites have superior imagery and its readily available and they don’t need permission.

Advocates see value in airborne assets that can fly quickly and below cloud level; they question how efficiently America or the U.K. can share intelligence with all Open Skies signatories, which includes a number of non-NATO nations.

So it’s not a simple issue of Trump wants out of the treaty. The issue has been simmering for a number of years and no doubt will rumble on.

After his Twitter tirade at Kim, what has Trump achieved with North Korea.

They continue testing missiles and the nuclear weapons programme continues, too.

He got all cuddly with Kim and is now threatening to withdraw security from the South unless they pay him a lot more money.
