“Even Boris Johnson ’s Chief Strategic Adviser Sir Edward Lister is calling our candidates and offering them jobs if they withdraw. The system is corrupt and broken.”

Farage says the Tories are offering candidates peerages in exchange for stepping aside, and he is considering making a complaint to the police.

Drain the swamp, eh?

It is not only the Tories doing it, all the political parties are political postering and trying to form some sort of alliance where their candidate will stand a better chance of winning. There is a multi party case of 'back scratching' going on behind the scenes.

Using the powers of the state to bribe people for political gain certainly is.

What, that Farage says he was offered a peerage in return for standing down the Brexit Party?

Sounds plausible.

I do think Farage is making a proper mess of strategy, though.

On the one hand, he is telling half the country to trust the Conservative Party to deliver true Brexit.

On the other hand, he is telling half the country to vote Brexit Party, not Conservative, if they want true Brexit.

All this, and the Conservative manifesto has yet to be published, so it's impossible to understand where his faith in Johnson is coming from.

Not that he seems to have any personally - he says he probably won't vote for any party.

A lot of very mixed messages from Farage.

His raison d’etre is destabilisation and disruption so I imagine the scenario is the tories thought they had bought him off and then he pushed back with another upstart demand which they wouldn’t concede to and so he dumped them in the shit again. Its hard to see a motive for his strategy otherwise

Exactly, if he truly wanted to achieve Brexit it's there for the taking.

But he seems to be being very reluctant to take that shot.

Maybe because then there would be no reason for Nigel in UK politics?

It's quite a triumvirate - Trump, Farage and Johnson.

I was listening to a couple of senior journalists discussing what it is like to interview Trump and one of them, an American, said it was rather similar to meeting a mafia don - his bulk and presence was quite intimidating and his behaviour was very aggressive and threatening towards said journalist despite it being a fairly innocuous interview - he came away from it thinking this man is just like a character out of the sopranos - a brute and a bully with no interest in anything other than his own interests.

"What with the shorting of the pound by Johnson and his buddies I was starting to wonder if the whole Tory Party had fallen under a cloak of corruption but if Fararge is now saying there corrupt then I guess they most be OK after all."
