This is not the end, it's probably not even the beginning of the end, it is perhaps the end of the beginning.

There's trouble t mill and nobody seems keen on continuing with the status quo.

You'll never get rid of profit but it's possible to make profit work better for the good of capitalism.

All around there's signs of a globalisation backlash, communities are looking local, artists are swapping art for health care, trade swaps are becoming more trendy and easier due to communication and apps.

And the Brucey bonus is the government don't get a share of the labour

A belief in free-market economics has given us globalisation.

I go into Aldi or Lidl and see it in an action - row after row of "stuff" made In China, 9/10ths of it plastic and cardboard, transported half-way round the world and piled high here.

(I say "stuff" rather than presents, because I wouldn't thank you for any of it this Christmas )

We measure economic success by economic growth and consumption, pretty much regardless of its side-effects on society.

That's the thinking of the free-market. That's why we have globalisation.

New Zealand is showing the way forward.

It is moving to a sustainability index as a measure of its success.

When the rest of the world measures and regulates its economy by sustainability rather than consumption, the market will adapt.

Until then, fill your boots with all that plastic and cardboard from China this Christmas, folks!

I was lucky enough to visit Russia before the capitalists took control, funnily enough it was run by and for wealthy people, with multiple cars, lovely holiday homes on the coast, children privately schooled, nannies and servants.

Nothings really changed today except the working class have a better standard of living than they used to.

Plus I don't think they use comrade to much anymore

Socially and environmentaly responsible capitalism for the win.

A technocracy would be my chosen flavour of global governance.

The barter system is for you hippies...

We've already got a technocracy, Apple, Google, YouTube, Twitter, Facebook, Amazon.

I'm not keen on them, in many ways there more corrupted, less scrutinised, more powerful and more pervasive than politicians!.

And that takes some biscuit
