I would imagine that the average voter doesn't understand it, wants to understand it or doesn't care.

Either system has is advantages/disadvantages but it would be extremely complicated to combine the best points of both systems.

Small 'c' conservatism. Tradition.

I believe understand the reality of how constituencies, constituency boundaries and the Electoral Commission works. The reality is that millions of votes will only ever count if the country is on the brink of revolution.

Truth is there are 5 sorts of constituencies:

1. The virtually impossible to loose/win.

2. The unlikely to loose/win.

3. And unsafe seats.

The Electoral Commission divide type 1 and 2 constituencies between the main parties and when drawing borders and whenever there is a disruption to this division of seats the constituency boundaries are redrawn to perpetuate the status quo.

So if you really want your vote to count move to one of the minority of seats on the unsafe category or one close to the unsafe border of cat 2 and then your vote will really count (at least for the time it takes for the establishment to realise you are unbalancing their political scales, because then they will redraw the boundaries and you will have to move again). And yes, I am saying that like education the more money you have the more vote you can buy.

This is why I wanted proportional representation which didn't win in the 2011 referendum.

Though I don't believe any vote is truly wasted. You can always vote in protest. If minor parties got more votes it would put a stick up the 2 party system's bum and make them more accountable.

The establishment relies on people not voting as it helps keep the 2 party thing going.

This is one of the reasons I'm probably going to vote Brexit party (certainly not Boris, Corbyn or Jo, or Caroline or BNP), as well as believing we need to take this one chance to escape from the EU and their further plans for member states.

Yes, Britain really detests the idea of empire-building (unless it has a Union flag on it, of course).

Maybe you should be a politician as you have managed to make 5 equal 3....

Unless you are counting loose/win as different..

Thus you have great creative political counting skills.... watch out Boris !! someone is hot on your heels.....
