Yeah. I've seen people on here say stuff like "we can't do anything in this country without Germany's permission!"

Some folks seem to want to be oppressed, so they have a legit excuse to hate foreigners.

Chorley,

I don't blame the Germans, French or any European country as they are certainly getting fed up of Boris Johnson and the rest of the plebs that he calls his cabinet.

Just Brexit little Englanders.

More than that.

An image of Mrs Merkel with her arm raised Hitler-esque.

Disgusting. Vile. Insulting. Jingoistic.

Why do English nationalists cling to wartime symbolism of their greatness today?

Probably because they have none of their own.

A national embarrassment.

They're a shower of cunts. Why would anyone expect anything better from them?

We constantly get told we need to come together for the sake of the country, after Brexit.

Well, fuck that. Just because they won a vote doesn't mean I have to have anything to do with them; other than condemn them.

I had long discussions with my late father in law who was a navigator in Lancaster’s during the war and he hated this kind of crap. He ran his own business and had clients and friends all over Europe and was very happy that the eec and later the EU kept Europe harmonious for so many years. He was a hero and had the medals to prove it but he was also the kind of polite gentleman that you rarely encounter these days and I am just glad he’s not here to see this travesty of nationalist, populist and racist bullshit that leave.eu spout like a poisonous spring.

It's true, Britain would probably not have won without USSR eventually being on our side, and the USA too. However if Britain had not stood alone against Germany in 1940 and 41, when the USSR was actually in Alliance with Germany and the US was neutral, the result may have been very different.

I don't go along with the jingoistic statements of many BREXITERS that "we won WWII" when most of these current BREXITERS have never really fought for anything and none, because they were all too young, fought in WWII. Added to this the fact that, when given the chance to actually vote on British membership of EU/EC/EEC in the first referendum in 1975 the generation that did fight and sacrifice in WWII voted massively and overwhelmingly by 67% to Remain. BREXIT it's very self is the biggest disrespect to the memory, patriotism and sacrifice of that generation.

However I also feel that some of the denigration of the sacrifice made by the WWII generation by those claiming to support Remain is disrespectful and unhelpful. Their fight for a free, peaceful and democratic Europe is our fight too, not the BREXITERS.

“First it was Ken Clarke. Then Margaret Beckett. Then Yvette Cooper. Then Bercow. Then Grieve. Then Hammond. Then Ed Miliband.

Now you might think this was a particularly pleasant dream about the people you would like to see walking over a minefield under machine gun fire, but alas no. This is the list of people that have been bandied about as potential PMs placed in that role purely by a cabal of MPs with no reference to anything so odious as an election or a party leadership contest.

Note the strenuous attempt to reassure Leavers that democracy is being honoured in such a process by picking only those who are the most extreme Remainers in the country. Thank goodness. I was worried for a minute that they might be corrupt about all this.

If I was in their position I would enjoy it a lot more though. They have no sense of humour as they go about mightily shafting us all. You’d think a little sadistic grin or giggle would have escaped by now. Even a “Hahaha, are we really doing this?” Like you might get from the worst kind of US college jock rap ist high fiving a friend over the back of an uncon- -scious girl.

For example why don’t they suggest Frau Merkel as a possible interim PM of a Unity government? Or Leo Varadkar? Or better yet, Gary Lineker? Have the Greens suggested Greta already? Has Blair emailed his CV through....”lies, war, more lies, bombing campaign, bumping off inconvenient weapons inspectors, more lies, lecture tours...hmm it IS an impressive Mr Blair.

The Lend-Lease policy, formally titled An Act to Promote the Defense of the United States, (Pub.L. 77–11, H.R. 1776, 55 Stat. 31, enacted March 11, 1941) was a program under which the United States supplied the United Kingdom (and British Commonwealth), Free France, the Republic of China, and later the Soviet Union and other Allied nations with food, oil, and materiel between 1941 and August 1945.

When Lend Lease was terminated in 1945 Britain borrowed $4 billion from the US (the dollar loan) which as as you said finally repaid by the Labour government. The Marshall Aid money was not repaid but sadly was squandered.

Which line is it today.

"We didn't win two world wars to be pushed around by a Kraut."

- referring to Merkel

The WW2 jingoism in this country is so stupid and gross. No guys, *you* didn't win any world wars. nope the russians did they ground the Germans down inexrabley

Yes, while it was a world wide effort, without the Russian sacrifices then "we" wouldn't have overcome Germany.

We seem to forget that the Russians and the Germans were on the same side from 1939 - 1941.

The Russians also won because of the massive amounts of Lend Lease equipment and materials they received from the allies, in particular the US once it entered the war.

Ah yes the Marshall plan that the USA insisted we pay back in full and was only paid off during Tony Blairs premiership - funny how they let other countries off the hook but not us. America is great "

Also funny that the UK cancelled Germany,s debt without them paying it off they seem to conveniently forgot that.

My opinion with regards the utter ignorance regarding the stupid line is

Apparently the UK joined forces against the vile fascist nazi doctrine that had poisoned parts of the world

The UK is now edging ever closer towards promoting the xenophobic narrow minded elements that were a backbone of nazi doctrine

Oh the irony

But it is now out there and you can be absolutely sure that the image will continue to be circulated on social media whilst all the while Banks and Co saying that they withdrew it and it has now nothing to do with them.

Scientists aren’t all they make out they say they are you know...

I read something about the ozone hole thing the other day ... apparently it’s smaller now than it has been in the last thirty years ... but the scientist says it’s an anomaly

Is this the article??

You’ll find it’s EU scientists monitoring the hole so I can understand you being skeptical about EU experts .

The EU's Copernicus Atmosphere Monitoring Service (CAMS) .

You appear to doubt the science?

Why is that.?

What evidence can you provide ?

I’m not doubting the science, that would mean I actually think the hole is larger than they say .

I don’t know, I’m not a scientist.

Just very odd that the scientists monitor the hole, find that it’s getting smaller, but classify it is an anomaly . Why is that?

I wonder if the hole was getting bigger if they would also classify that as an anomaly

I could copy and paste from the article but it’s probably better you read it.

Scientists love a good anomaly .Its what they live for.Its from that point new discoveries are made and our collective knowledge expands.

So you read this part.

Scientists say that while losses started earlier than normal this year, they were truncated by a sudden warming event that lifted temperatures in the stratosphere by 20-30 degrees. This destabilised the ozone destroying process.

Richard Engelen is the deputy head at CAMS. He says the small size seen so far this year is encouraging but warns against complacency.

"Right now I think we should view this as an interesting anomaly. We need to find out more about what caused it."

You have an opinion that scientists are odd.Which is fine .

Not an informed opinion though .If you want an informed opinion you’ll wait for a scientific paper using evidence to explain anomalies in the ozone layer.

Well that’s what I would do.

And we not only didn't repay to the colonies all the shit we stole or make reparations for the slavery, forced conversions, subjugation and control, for the massacres we enacted or the famines we caused both in Ireland, India and yet to this day we refuse to forgive the debt they are still repaying.

You understand what the meaning of anomaly is right?

It means an event outside the prevailing trend.

So it's not an odd thing to say at all is it?
