Chorley,

Who is telling the truth, Boris says he is making good progress with a deal, but the EU say no progress is being made.

I think the EU are telling the truth as would not trust Boris Johnson as far as I could throw him.

Unfortunately, I think that this will been seen to be an irrelevance as the Supreme Court is likely to say that the law cannot usurp lawful Parliamentary process and the Privvy Council makes its own decisions on its own grounds.

The best that can be hoped for is that somehow it will come to light that Johnson did lie to Parliament and lied to the public (again).

I know you have tongue in cheek but it upsets me that politics are being hijacked by liars, cheats, self-seeking and gratifying products of the English private school system who’s sense of entitlement and greed is festering Westminster and seeping into the psyche of the UK as a whole.

What was ‘great’ about the UK, if it ever indeed was there, has gone. The UK is a laughing stock, particularly England it has to be said in all truthfulness, from Europe to the Antipodes.

Blair falls in to the above group.

I can’t tell you the answer to the other two as there’s so little reported truthfully to go on. I suspect a whole lot better than portrayed and certainly better than Mr Johnson.

There will be a deal but EU have to be seen to not be backing down. 27 countries can't be seen to be dictated to by the UK. It's now all about how the deal is presented rather than the content of the deal.

EU will maintain a hard line on progress until 17/18 October summitt when all will be revealed and EU seen as the benevolent party acting in the best interest of the 27. The detail will be lost in the euphoria of the deal.

Apparently the EU have not been provided with any written proposal from the UK. I would expect to have at least have provided a written outline of our definite proposal, to even be able to say that we've made a small amount of progress.

Backstabbing Boris is lying to our faces.

As time goes on, the small amount of benefit of the doubt I had is evaporating.

He is PRETENDING to want to leave but he has no intention of doing so. He wants leavers' votes or whatever, then at the last minute he will stab in the back.

Johnson's tone has changed since Parliament boxed him in and made it illegal to leave without an agreement.

Before then, he gave the impression of being blase about how the UK left.

Now all you hear about is the efforts he is making to leave with an agreement.

He has trapped himself in a corner and has only one way out.

That said, it is one thing to come back from Brussels with an agreement. As Mrs May found out, it is quite another thing to get it through the Commons.

Times had a cartoon of him recreating his pose and the catch phrase "I'm not the only one lying on the front bench"

Don’t think so ... it’s come from an anti brexit barrister who has also noted that MPs would need to take counter measures to prevent it.

. I have mentioned on another thread , the reaction of the Luxembourg PM was either a one-off or the first real public sign that the EU are really getting annoyed with the U.K. , and , if as I suspect it may be the latter , the notion of them needing us more than we need them is a long and distant dream
