"Do not drink with idiots thanks Who is an idiot to you and why?" You do not have to be a genus to work it out. History tells you that this causing chaos to the rest of the population turns people against you. Also most of the demonstrators no nothing about momentum who do not give a damn about Brexit or democracy it is an excuse to cause trouble and 90%of the protestors cannot see this.

" History tells you that this causing chaos to the rest of the population turns people against you." Did you vote leave? Hence causing the current chaos to the rest of the population.

I was just making fun. This forum poster seems to spend a lot of time insulting people. I'm not suggesting it's a trait associated to either side of the debate. Or not.

Hiding from and ignoring issues causes problems with mental health. Facing the issues and dealing with them helps to avoid mental health problems. I never said kids shouldn't be kids. Thankfully you know literally fuck all about me. So are in no position to judge my parenting skills. You seem to be very angry though. Which isn't good.

I don't think it's the worst thing to take kids on a protest. Most of them are fun days out with music and what not. This specific protest. I don't know much about. So I wouldn't say either way. But I would always rather there wasn't any need to protest. And would always prefer to be kicking a football in the park or some such. And yeah 6-7 is a bit too young. But maybe from secondary school, kids should be taught more about critical thinking. How to question the information they're given.

" I don't think it's the worst thing to take kids on a protest. Most of them are fun days out with music and what not. " I watched the Hong Kong coverage today. Sky's corresponder dressed like a demonstrator in gas mask and hard hat. Commentating on people throwing petrol bombs and half-bricks. She kept downplaying it. Mentioned a woman carrying a baby without any gas mask etc. It really was the most biased coverage. I think the police and China are behaving with great restraint. Petrol bombs on the streets of Britain and the response would be brutal.

I mean, I'm just a miserable remainer, but this post makes you sound like a really horrible, vindictive, petty person. You almost certainly don't care, but I thought I'd let you know just in case

However, people have a right to demonstrate in what they believe in. We have had that right for centuries. I'd hate to see that right taken away. When people took to the street in their masses and peacefully demonstrated about the UK sending troops to Iraq, they made their disapproval clear. True, the troops went out to Iraq, but there were long term political ramifications. Where there are political ramifications, there are gains/losses at the ballot box. Politicans will always take note of that. It can and does affect whether or not an MP stays elected in Westminster.

"I took my kid on protests from the age of 7. We only ever do the shorter routes and it's followed up with a trip to St James Park and ice cream. He loves them and I think it is important for children to engage with politics or issues they feel strongly about. Each to their own! " What protests have you taken him on?

"poll tax march mass disorder west end getting smashed up had an effect.peacefull protest i.e the million peeps who marched against iraq laughed at by the powers that be and went to war.only time they listen is when things go up in flames so unless remainers are prepared to get violent there really is no point" Hmmm... But there were local poll tax protests that were peaceful as well. There were plenty at my local town hall and they were peaceful. Chris Patten lost his Bath seat as a result of the poll tax. He wasn't the only one. As I mentioned before, troops did go to Iraq despite the demos, but there were long term ramifications. Mps are worried of they will keep their seats at the next GE. There is a point to demonstrations. I don't think violence at demonstrations is the answer, its a bit of a short term fix and not necessarily a positive one either. Not everything is as short term as you think. People will wait by the ballot box. I can't wait to vote mine out,but I'll be patient.
