On the verge of quitting.... It hasn't happened yet, although she will do.

She is principled and I admire her for it.

"Senior Tory source said: "Ruth's been talking to senior party figures in the Conservatives for the LAST FEW WEEKS, both in Scotland and down south.

"She has been under huge pressure as a new mum. Nobody really fully understands how your life is going to change as a parent until it happens. Ruth is no different in this respect.

"She's tried to juggle motherhood with being the very high-profile leader of the opposition in Scotland, and it's taken its toll.

"All of this has been made more difficult with the current political climate, where she's found herself at increasing odds with the new leadership in London."

That kind of spin will just make "Ruth the Mooth" even more upset.

"She's a woman, she's a mum, she can't cope, she needs to stay at home more."

What kind of misogynistic vicious spin machine is that?

Facts? So you have personally spoken to Ruth.

Ruth said to a close friend ‘she will quit as the Scottish Tory leader as she thinks Boris is a complete clusterfucking fucktard ‘.

It does give her an excuse not to comment on the latest wheeze from Boris though

Poisoned chalice the BBC and msm built her up and just as quick to knock her down they have a new hero Jo Swindon of the fib dems. Ruthie was punted as the saviour of everything tory in Scotland when she was in fact less popular than thatcher. She never actually won anything though they tried to play up her failures as wins she will not be missed except possibly fmqs where nicola ripped her a new one constantly

I imagine she will step down as an MSP, disappear for a few years and then come back to lead the UK party from its self-inflicted decade of purgatory.

Could possibly be a good political move on her behalf , it seems like she is getting the credit for the tories winning 13 Scottish seats , this will now distance her from Johnson and the potential loss of a few ( maybe most ) of those seats in the next general election , will give her time to spend with her child , then maybe return to politics later void of any blame fot the fiasco that is Brexit

"Why have the other 13 quit then "

They'll not be around for long now.

Ruth Davidson detoxified the Conservative image in Scotland.

She made people feel more comfortable about voting Conservative.

Johnson, on the other hand . . . well, he is even less popular in Scotland than Farage, and that is quite some achievement.

"Ruth Davidson detoxified the Conservative image in Scotland."

Not really. Roughly 70% of Scots still, rightly, revile Tories. At most, she rolled the turd in glitter.

A large part of her "success" was due to Sturgeon's ineptitude in calling for IndyRef2 right after the Brexit vote.

She should've held her wheesht and waited for things to get to the stage we're at now, rather than giving Ruth a big stick to hit her with; because that was Ruth's one trick. She had nothing else.

It's on its way!

From today's Holyrood magazine:

"The Conservatives could lose 10 of their 13 seats in Scotland if there is a snap UK election, according to a new YouGov poll.

"The poll of Scottish voting intentions, commissioned by The Times, projected the SNP could secure 51 seats if a general election is called, 16 more than in 2017.

"The Liberal Democrats were projected to win four seats, the Conservatives three and Labour would drop down to one seat."

"It is the first poll since Ruth Davidson quit as Scottish Conservatives leader.

"The survey found 43 per cent of Scots would vote SNP, 20 per cent Conservative, 15 per cent Labour and 12 per cent Liberal Democrat.

"The Brexit Party overtook the Greens, with six per cent of votes to the Greens’ four per cent."

The SNP will be the ones to gain from Ruth Davidsons leaving her post. They have an open goal now for this election. But to be honest they are not competent in any sphere where they are running the Govt. It is due to the weakness and incompetence of the other parties that they flourish, feeding on peoples disaffection with the way Westminster behaves.I do think Sturgeon is nearing her end as FM as her ministers are now jostling for her job
