So, 3 youths illegally entered a community hall of some kind and proceeded to cause £30,000 worth of damage. They also created an unpriceable amount of mental damage to destroy 30 years of work put into creating model railway layouts by retired people.

The general public of the world were so alarmed by these events, that they pledged over £107,000 to repair the exhibition.

One well known rock star donated £10,000 to the model railway club.

After the 3 youths were brought in front of a judge on a British court of law, the judge commented that the 3 youths were out playing football at an unusual time of night. For punishment, the judge has instructed the parents of each of the 3 youths to pay £500 compensation, making a total compensation payment of £1,500, approved by the British judge, for the damage wilfully and illegally caused.

There truly is NO justice in the world.

They broke into a school, drank a bottle of vodka, played football and then trashed the exhibits.

They were each given a 12 month referral order, which is the maximum that the Judge could give them. The £500 compensation order was given to each set of parents, maybe to remind them of their responsibilities.

So, the message is that children can cause £30,000 of damage whilst it only costs them £1,500. Even Mr Ashley doesn't have that kind of profit mark up.

So who pays for replacing or repairing the £30k of damage they caused?"

It seems that the victims get given £1,500 towards the £30,000. They just have to suck up a loss of £28,500 I guess.

why should the parents pay more? anyone who has ever been a kid or had any knows you cant be responsible for their actions 24/7.Make the kids pay sure but making the parents teaches the kids nothing.

The parents pay a paltry sum and the delinquents continue being arseholes... The money is there but the models need time and skill and effort to rebuild. Money can5 buy everything

Agree. They should have given them community service helping repair and rebuild the damage with the people who built it initially.

I don't know the full details but it strikes me that these kids have to study and gain qualifications but would have ideally been forced to deliver several hundred hours of community service for the benefit of elderly people. It would have had a cost for supervision and implementation too

The unjust bit is the accused/guilty don't have the full amount to pay themselves. . . You cause £30K damage and justice is to repay £1500?

Parents should be responsible for their children up to age 18. . . That includes their children's actions.

It's very simple, the parents of the children failed to ensure that their children were wrapped up snug and sound in bed.

But the adults responsible for the children reckon that they are irresponsible.
