Tories said their was no magic money tree, yet they have all this money for brexit preparations.

Our currency has tanked and continues to fall, we are heading for yet another recession. Businesses who have the money are jumping ship and moving abroad.

When will people put their pride aside and realise we need to stop this madness.

I know people don’t like to feel like they have to back down.

Just Swallow your pride, admit that we all make mistakes and let’s stop the ruination of country by this suicidal march by power hungry despots.

So you're saying we can never leave the EU, so that makes us slave's to the EU.

How did we let this happen, maybe we should just go for it and leave.

Better to be a poor free person than a rich slave.

There is no benefit to leaving.

Tell me one.

Feeling free to do what that you desperately want to do now that you cannot?

the benefits of leaving are running our own country.

The EU are on a path to a superstate, and don't give me we don't have to follow. We will have no choice, but if you want to be a state of Europe feel free to fight for remain.

Why do we have to follow?

Again, what can't we do that you really want us to?

We help set the rules in the EU.

Smaller is better in a world of superpowers and power blocks and mega corporations?

Go and look up what the USA is demanding that our tax on technology companies should be if we want a trade deal.

I really cannot understand how people fail to grasp that WE are also "The EU", it isn't "The EU" and us, WE are part of the institution called The EU.

In fairness. We knew exactly what would happen if we voted leave, and its currently happening. No one can be surprised,.

As you can see people are still saying arbitrary stuff like, - I'd rather be oppressed by the Tories and poor than have EU regulations to protect the environment and workers rights and be affluent -

Companies relocating abroad

Currency devaluation

Higher prices

Sure can leave, but not on false promises and lies.

The experts predicted how this would play out, people like Boris told people it would play out different, they put their trust in him and he lied.

This isnt really about backing down, or leaving the EU.

Its about being given two truthful options to chose from.

We now know that not one single person in government or the leave party had anything approaching a viable leave plan.

people thought they were voting for a brexit and got a "Fuck it and see what happens".

Yes I have, I didn't like anything except the people who were very nice, today it's not socialist the people are still nice and the country is wealthier and happier and hardly anyone wants to go back to being run by socialists.

Anybody curious about voting in socialists and socialism should visit any country that's tried it and speak to the people that lived there, they now fundamentally reject it mainly because they've seen it's a failed model but also because they've seen those in power use it to abuse it's own citizens who disagree with them.

The ultimate power should be in the hands of the people and not the state, brexit was voted for and brexit should be implemented, for richer or for poorer.

Great retort .

Venezuela, China, Cuba, Poland, Hungary, Albania, Zimbabwe, Congo, Laos, Vietnam, North Korea, Russia, Nepal, Bangladesh, Haiti,Ecuador, Peru, Zambia, Greece, the list is endless not one of them are better off,all of them have citizens trying to escape on mass, they all have terrible human rights abuses and poverty to the rafters.

The only thing it cures are immigration problems because nobody ever tries to get in to socialist Shitholes, oh and "wealth gaps" didn't fix them either, they all had very rich leaders with big houses, fancy cars, summer houses and boats.

Somehow though this myth of socialist utopias still flourishes today thanks mainly to Marxist teachers and Trotsky media hacks.

Out country is socialist.

All advanced economies are to some extent.

Even the USA.

Unbridled capitalism is no winner either.

Our form of socialism significantly reduces the number of victims though.

Unfortunately this is the UK we live in. The mental gymnastics that people do to believe that a no deal is not only the right move, but the move that they always wanted is almost at Olympic standards.

If ur team Brexit then I hope ur right and us remainers are wrong. I'll hold my hands up and say happily I was wrong.

I hope that team Brexit will have the courage to do the same if they are wrong and not blame anyone else.

The information is now there for u to make a clear and educated choice.

I remember the Callaghan government 1976 to 1979. Winter of discontent, strikes everywhere, 3 day week, begging the IMF for a loan, inflation at 17%, unemployment at 5% etc.....not good at all.

You can still be libertarian and want remain, its ok.

Its not about left or right, its about the future prosperity of this nation. A large trading bloc has better purchasing power and a better negotiating hand. It’s simple.

This can be seen by how we were negotiated into a pragmatic withdrawal agreement.

I’m saying that we need to weigh the pros and cons up, there are bigger problems which need to addressed in this world.

We are being too dogmatic, instead of pragmatic. I’m willing to admit the EU has its problems, but its like a marriage, you got to work at it to get the best out of it. Then get a divorce. "

If things are irrepairable then yes, its the last resort, but we’ve been too quick to press the self destruct button.

The problem with brexit is that we have been listening to people who have no idea what the relationship with EU is really like, they are like friends who only see how people feel if they are upset. Of course they will tell you to leave because they are convinced that is what you need to do is divorce because its easier.

Relationships are far more complex than that, sometimes its better to listen to your gut feeling than what your friends are saying.

In the end, are they really your friends if they want you to self harm?

There is no benefit to leaving.

Tell me one.

Feeling free to do what that you desperately want to do now that you cannot?the benefits of leaving are running our own country.

The EU are on a path to a superstate, and don't give me we don't have to follow. We will have no choice, but if you want to be a state of Europe feel free to fight for remain. "

Then please all Remainers explain why the Bundesbank has asked several companies to draw up plans for reintroduction of the DM?

If Europe (EU) was so super - why have the wheels come off on the Agreement EU - Switzerland ?

If Europe was so great and they were working full power ahead why is France, Germany and Italy officially in a recession ?

Why has France passed Italy as the most in debt country in Europe ?

Many remainers I know don't hold the eu out to be perfect. Just think we are better in than out.

A lot of remainers don't see the euro as being great. But that isn't a reason to Brexit or not. We don't have the eu. If I were a central bank I'd be wanting to understand contingency plans etc.

If the eu was great someone would still have to be the most indebted of the eu countries. Why is it the eus fault they have taken on a bit more debt... As a % of gdp Japan, Singapore and US are worse.

And the world trade is cooling atm. Why is this the eus fault? And in my head France were doing okay in 2019...

The Bundesbank have, have they? When and which "companies"? According to whom?

Is it a secret source or can we all see?

We are not in the Euro anyway so just a distraction.

Ask the Swiss why they don't want to conclude the framework agreement. Apparently they don't want immigration from the EU but they do want their skilled workers. A bit of a parodox. Go figure.

None of those countries are on recession. Close, but not yet. Italy has flirted with it, mainly due to its new Eurosceptic (ish), populist, government.

Economic cycles happen. There was a global recession not so long ago. Remember that?

Chinese growth has slowed. Germany exports the most to them. Would we like less exposure to China?

France and Italy have failed for years to control their domestic budgets. Nothing to do with the EU. That's their own, sovereign business.

Being in the EU does not prevent recessions, but it does give you a much bigger domestic market and coordinated responses when times are tough.

What has the EU done to cause any of the things you are bringing up and what you expect them to do to fix it?

The EU is not magic. Who claimed that it was?

"Great retort .

Somehow though this myth of socialist utopias still flourishes today thanks mainly to Marxist teachers and Trotsky media hacks."

And dont forget that for years the scandinavians had their own trade agreement with the USA and so there was no incentive for the US government to fuck them over, unlike all the socialist states that were within easy reach of the USA but hey lets not worry about that because a big fence will keep them at bay

Love how you demand "all remainers" answer some arbitrary loaded questions about some random stuff.

Is this in some way trying to suggest that leaving the EU is a positive for the UK?

Amazing. It's great to get insight into this stuff. I know is a vast array of reasons that people give for voting leave. It's really interesting to hear about some of them.

You may not realise that most of our personal rights come from EU law! The ERG group want to abolish paid leave and employee rights, go of the American model? If your boss doesn’t like you, sod of elsewhere. I take it you read the Express and Daily Mail. Don’t worry, the £350 million for the NHS per week will save us; just ask Boris!!!

I'm sure people do realise. But just either don't care, or don't have any concept of what these things mean to every day life.

Sadly dear comment giver I am a dual citizen British / Swiss and can read fluent German, French, Italian and Latin.

The Swiss are not only fed up with immigrant but also that the Bundesgericht is no longer the last court for legal issue but Strassburg. Further that Brussels has declared the three Swiss stock exchanges as no longer comparable with EU regulations but accept Sydney, Singapore, New York and Tokyo.

The article about the return of the DM was run in der Spiegel 3 weeks ago and the FAX.It is an open "secret" in Frankfurt that Berlin is looking at all options to bail out of the Euro.

To the point that the EU is not linked to the Euro that is incorrect. The Lisabon agreements, which all EU states signed, state clear that by 2025 all members have to use the Euro. Three countries opted out the UK being one of these 3, but the opt out is time limited.

To the point of recession I just point to figures and statements from the IMF

At least I stick to official qualified sources and not BBC or media in the UK who are either too far right or too far left.

Wasn't the point we are not in the euro. So not quite relevant to Brexit?

You're closer to this than me, but I thought the EU were withholding continuing with equivalence as part of the ongoing "negotiations" between the eu and Switzerland. I understand this is annoying... Presumably there's a hit because of this? Goes to show equivalence can be fragile and used as a negotiation tool. London should heed this warning.

And I still can't see where the imf has France in recession.

It's a shame that you do not enjoy your dual nationality.

Never mind.

Does Switzerland have a labour shortage?

If Strasbourg is the highest court in some matters, was that as a result of a dishonest trick or was there a negotiation and an agreement and a treaty? Was it a surprise?

Are Switzerland and the EU in dispute and might the equivalence system be being used as a negotiating tactic?

I am delighted that you are multi-lingual. Latin is particularly useful for learning other Romance languages, but I find its utility in the spoken form limited.

Do you have the link to the article in der Spiegel? Perhaps might use my inferior linguistic skills to try to decipher it?

Germany leaving the Euro would not "bail it out". It might reduce Germany's liabilities though.

A north/south split might make sense though.

The UK opt out of the Euro is not time limited.

https://fullfact.org/europe/eu-countries-euro-2020/

You are not reading your numbers correctly if you think there are recessions.

I am not claiming that they are healthy either, but if wish to be a pedant do so correctly.

Is there such a thing as an economic cycle?

Is there a global downturn in the air?

Is Germany more exposed to China?

Who said that being in the EU makes you economically invincible? Are China or the USA?

Does it give you a much larger domestic market?

How do you propose any organisation "ends boom and bust"?

Why are you informing me of being unable to look at information other than that produced by the British press? Is that true? How do you know this? Are you tracking my browsing history?

Is it because I disagree with you so must have used "incorrect" information?
