They're both shit because they enable a government to be formed without - indeed, against - the assent of the majority of voters.

PR definitely has its problems - but it is more representative. It works in Germany.

I like constitutional rights that protect me from the majority who are fast becoming idiots.

I like as much freedom as practically possible, I don't think the state has any solutions to the vast majority of problems in my life, I'd rather the state cover the basics of borders, law and order, security and infrastructure and get the fuck out of my life.

The UK system by a country mile.

The why is twofold and both are simple.

Firstly no matter how anachronistic it may be having a 'non partisan' head of state (The Crown) and diplomatic service allows us (UK) to maintain good relationships with other countries through 'back channels' even when our government of the day are involved in very public rows with other countries. After all politicians come and go, The Crown and Civil Service are permanent.

Secondly, who in their right mind would want their local police chief, fire chief, coroner, judge and every other local government manager down to the dog catcher to be a political appointment?
