Terminal 5 was built with a promise of no third runway.

Now the promise is broken, more pledges are announced. So more broken promises to come?

No third runway has been built yet has it, so how has the promise been broken?

Boris Johnson has always been against the 3rd runway, and looks well on his way to becoming Prime minister. He may decide to take an executive decision as Prime Minister to scrap the idea of a 3rd runway.

Not if his bluff and bluster tonight was any indication.

On the leadership debate he refused to rule it out

Plus when plans are proposed with details like putting the m25 through a tunnel, tben intensios are clear

He didn't confirm it either, and all his previous comments on the subject say he's against it.

I was listening to a debate about it today on the BBC radio 2 Jeremy Vine show. Jeremy Vine said various governments (including the Blair/Brown Labour government) had been talking about a 3rd runway for decades and still nothing has happened.

Newcastle and Gateshead

didn't bojo have the chance to vote against heathrow expansion..... swore blind that he would.... but come the day of the vote wasn't he "mysteriously" in afghanistan so not having to vote against the govt and resign....

and to make it worse... greg hands, who was a govt minister and made the same pledge DID resign from the cabinet to vote against.....

so if the question is " is boris a weasel".... then the answer is "sure........"

I'm sure Boris will lay down in front of any bulldozers that may come near to start any runway building, after all that's exactly what he's previously stated

. But , surely the amount of air travel from the UK will fall dramatically once we leave the EU , All the leave voters who claim to love our country will no longer be taking their jolly holidays abroad but will be supporting British hotel and bed&breakfast businesses in Blackpool , Llandudno , Torquay , Skegness etc ...

Yes, but his objection to a third runway was because of his dream of 'Boris island' in the Thames Estuary

Your location says Heathrowish.

Genuinely interested - what is your feeling on the third runway.?

Scrapping a third runway at Heathrow is very good news for the whle of the UK and Londoners will love Boris for it as they did when mayor
