Marcus Ball - Fraudster and Liar

Jump to newest

So the fanatical remoaner who has brought a court case against Boris Johnson for alleged lies of £350 million a week for the NHS, is called Marcus Ball.

It's now come to light that Marcus Ball is himself somewhat economical with the truth, has deliberately lied about his intentions with the court case, and has defrauded remainers out of some £24,000 through a crowdfunding page to fight court cases, which he instead used to line his own pockets.

www.dailymail.co.uk/debate/article-7084115/GUY-ADAMS-man-took-24-000-fighting-fund-pay-himself.html

Mr Marcus Ball has repeatedly insisted now the case against Boris Johnson has nothing to do with a wish to frustrate Brexit, although the timing of this now with the possibility Boris Johnson could become Prime Minister looks incredibly suspicious. And yet back in 2016 following the EU referendum result when Marcus Ball originally set up a crowdfunder page to launch legal fights to stop Brexit he said...."Once these prosecutions have established that politicians did indeed lie to voters, our next step will be to take other action to prevent Brexit. This may be in the form of a judicial review."

So in 2016 he says his intentions were to stop Brexit through legal channels, and now he says they're not?

Marcus Ball also asked for a minimum crowdfund pot of £100,000 to be raised by public donors, and said on the website page...."This is a non-profit campaign. The people involved are volunteering their time freely."

In October 2016, Mr Ball repeated this line, saying he had worked unpaid on the campaign for the past 3 months.

However since 2016 Marcus Ball at some point decided to not volunteer his time freely. He recently told an interviewer that he was paying himself £24,000 from his crowdfunding kitty.

Again Mr Ball has lied to his donors, and has defrauded them out of £24,000 in donations, which he has used to line his own pockets.

Seems Mr Marcus Ball is an incredibly dodgy, and untrustworthy individual, who does not practice what he preaches, and is guilty of extreme double standards.

So there is a chance that, with Boris sudden announcement of leadership. Someone as I would with this with out being slanderous to this Marcus as I have no idea who he is. But it's clear that he started something and some one is helping him to mess up Boris chances.

It's not who you know it's who gives the most in a envelope in the politics.

Okay. So according to the second article the salary came from a second crowd funding.

And its easy to go for a what about argument of politicians also moving the goal posts over the past few years and going back on their word.

But really this is all ad hom slurs. Wether he is a liar or not, makes no difference about whether boris lied or not. V poor form.

Okay, so it seems all the court proceedings started before May's resignation. So suggestions of this being timely againt BoJo seems slightly unfair. Albeit the writing was on the wall.

The DM report is its usual pointing at smoke and suggesting fire.... The crowd funding page was pulled... Could that be because there's a court hearing?, he's taking a salary... But other sites suggest that's a seperate crowd funding (easily verifiable). He's field his accounts late. Relevanthow?

The mail questioned his fitness to hold public office in court due to his recklessness when trying to publish an account of one of his affairs, now they love him as their brexit boy..

The issue is essentially not that Boris lies, that's pretty much proven and accepted..

That he lied over the figure is the issue, it seems that we have raced to the bottom whereby we some now accept 'our sides' lies as OK as the other side also do it..

That isn't right..

I've not got the time to read drivel on awful media sites and haven't invested money into any of these campaigns - I think I read right that there have been several. It's also reasonable that someone's needs and goals change over time, as well as their 'product' plans uncovering varying and more detailed data on what is required to fully produce something. Costs can rise, project times can increase etc.

I would have expected that someone bringing about extensive legal investigation and action into a leaver politician isn't probably the most dedicated brexiter ever. This is similar to this thread being opened by someone who is probably not an intelligently applied remainer, based upon their rational analysis.

Back to the case - it's good that Boris Johnson is facing greater scrutiny, as he appears to be someone who isn't fit for public office imo. It's a private prosecution, so the people who have funded this and connected actions, have probably followed the accounts of the campaign manager.

So much for the sovereignty argument.

Sovereignty is also about the ability for the courts to represent the people and for the courts to hold the government and politicians to account.

If you do not support the right of the public to fund and hold a case against a politician - you do not want to live in a sovereign State.

I think he might be more interested in democracy and the rule of law than BoJo or the Daily Mail are. What’s your viewpoint? Are you saying that because BoJo is a politician he does not need to be held to account? If he played by the rule of law and parliamentary convention he would not be facing court and personally I would be glad to see him reined in and taught a lesson or two. Oh and as everyone has probably realised by now Second division (Centy) is back touting his personal brand of xenophobic rubbish again....lets hope he’s learnt to be a little nicer this time.

Clearly if this private prosecution gets to the point of trial, BoJo's Barrister will attempt an abuse of process argument.

This will be based on process and not the evidence.

I am assuming that Mr Ball may be the defence's best witness. Now that may be amusing.

"

From memory he also has a number of failed businesses against his name. Maybe he is the person who should be in the dock for misleading the public about his campaign. Interestingly he took one of his crowd funding sites down recently. That site clearly captured his true intentions.

Maybe it is time he got a job and dif some work instead of living off a crowd funded website .

EPIC.....

No shit!!

So... No background, no evidence, no witnesses, no deliberation - just a simple judgement on the day - which might be wrong?

Have you any idea how many "simple judgements on the day" actually get overturned?

Overall - judgements are pretty sound and then there is a robust legal framework in place to file an appeal if the Defendant can bring new evidence or feels that there was a legal error in the way that the initial case was handled by the Judge or either barrister.

It will be interesting to see how this plays out because Johnson has no argument whatsoever against the lie - he will have to try to wriggle free on legal arguments.

Our society is in a truly terrible place when on this social media site and virtually every other one - people are taking Brexit related positions on this issue.

For years people have complained about Politicians lying and there being no recourse. Now there is an opportunity for a serial liar to be held to account - and then you get threads like this one. Started by a Brexiter in hiding and only about attacking the man who has planned, organised and arranged the funding of this private prosecution against the lying politician.

We all get it dont we....

It's OK to lie, to cheat, to deceive and indeed to do anything at all as long as you are a heroic Brexiter. All is forgiven because we are at war and in war anything goes.

That about sums it up doesn't it?

Fuck NO.

It is about holding pathological liars to account and this is an opportunity to set a precedent going forward. Who cares if it affects his ability to run for PM? This has been brewing for over a year - long before Theresa May started to wane and hopefully, this will make him think about things he says and does and the knock on consequences going forward.

This ideological divide between Brexiters and everyone else has to stop. This issue is about right and wrong and if you can't see that then you really ought to be questioning the world that you want to live in.

The morality of its OK for my kids to cheat at school, lie like fuck to achieve what they want is not one we brought our children up with..

It's not a society that any decent people of whatever political persuasion should adhere to and the majority of all sides simply don't..

It is however creeping like a cancer through the politics of this country and it needs addressing no matter who does it..

"They do day that the law is an ass. This case is the proof.

Any competent judge would have thrown the application out. It makes a mockery of the judicial process.

When a person electioners they do not act in an official capacity and hence cannot breach misconduct laws.

Hi. Any person who has managed to be successful enough to work their way up in life and become a Judge obviously shows they are very knowledgeable in their field of work and will be widely regarded as a superior expert on matters such as this compared to sex starved picture profiles on a sex site in cyberLand such as this.

However the judges background appears to be in simple criminal and immigration cases . She is hardly in the premier league and judges do make mistakes and get decisions wrong.

Any court decision is simply a judgement on the day. It does not mean that it is the right decision.

Legally a court decision is not simply a judgement on the day, it is a judgement importunity and in law is the right decision unless or until a higher court rules otherwise."

Or even "in perpetuity"

"Our society is in a truly terrible place when on this social media site and virtually every other one - people are taking Brexit related positions on this issue.

This..

If the ordinary member of the public has to take recourse to maintain the sovereignty and accountabilities of our public bodies then so be it..

"I think it’s interesting that they are trying to throw mud at Marcus ball... it’s the same playbook they tried with Gina miller

This is how they try to break people and it’s interesting that none of the arguments are that he didn’t lie.... they are trying to argue around the lie!

And it wasn’t like anyone pointed out it wasn’t a lie at the time....."

The thread to discuss whether Boris told a lie or not is your own thread Fabio, titled "Boris and the big red bus".

I've addressed that question and commented on that particular thread already, and shown that the £350 million figure was addressed by Fullfact website during the referendum campaign, which distinguished between the Gross figure and the Net figure. So nice try to switch and bait but it won't work here, this thread is about Marcus Ball and his dodgy dealings, lies, and misuse of crowdfunder monies, which he has raised under false pretences. Its now emerged in the press that Marcus Ball used upto £50,000 of his crowdfunding kitty to rent a plush property in an expensive area of London, which he lost a £1000 deposit on when he moved out, self defence classes and buying cupcakes for his legal team. If remainers want to continue to crowdfund this guy in light of these revelations though, i guess thats upto them.

This will be based on process and not the evidence.

I am assuming that Mr Ball may be the defence's best witness. Now that may be amusing. "

Ian Duncan Smith who also worked with Vote Leave during the referendum, has now also challenged Mr Marcus Ball to take him to court over the £350 million figure.

In light of all this i'm thinking of setting up a crowdfunder page to raise money to take legal action against Nick Clegg, the former leader of the Liberal Democrats for his lies about Tuition fees during the 2010 general election. I'd like a minimum of £100,000 in the kitty please. Unlike Marcus Ball, i'll be honest with you though, and i'll tell you from the off i intend to take at least £24,000 of the money raised to transfer to my own bank account, for my own salary. I may also spend upto £50,000 of the money raised on Karate classes, cupcakes, and a deposit and rent on an expensive London apartment.

Now who would like to donate?

I'm not smart enough to search archives to see if/when it changed ... But his current crowd funder page shows part of the money was to pay for the legal team which he was part of.

Also explains why it was only Boris. So whoever else pops up to challenge them is doing the equivalent orf "let me at him" knowing full well his mates will hold him back.

But hey. Let's continue with the ad hom attacks. His fans will fund the same way Brexit fans will chuck money at leave means leave to go for a walk and TBP to not go to the EU yet claim a pension.

Yes, only looking at the issue from the perspective of EU membership payment only then yes once we leave we will save money by not paying a membership fee.

The flip side though is how much extra will it cost the UK economy by having tarrifs applied by the loss of 40 to 50 free trade agreements.

The reduction of tarrifs by our current FTA's is estimated to be around £60 billion a year compared to what we'd be paying under WTO tarrifs.

I don't know if the costs of replicating all the regulatory bodies that we currently have access to through our membership payments has been calculated yet either but that also has to be applied as well. That ain't going to be cheap either.

So yes, by only taking a black & white view of only the membership fee will we be saving any money while ignoring the rest of the costs that will increase.

This is the very epitome of the type of one dimensional thinking that has resulted in the Brexit vote. The assumption being that EU payments have a zero sum outcome because there are no direct, indirect or latent benefits from the payment.

I have quoted the relevant ONS and Treasury reports on a different thread on here which estimates that the return on our investment into the EU by direct, indirect and latent benefit to be between 800% and 2,370%.

Even discounting the trade element and assuming that by some as yet unforeseen mechanism there could be a late in the day free trade agreement - there is still the issue of the very essence of day to day existences in the U.K. for Government, business and the citizens who all go about their activities because of the laws, regulations and standards that are tied up in EU law.

U.K. Agencies that are currently part of shared EU bodies all have to be fully repatriated and their standards quantified, certified and made acceptable in international law. All of these things take time, resources and money.

Seems the Liar and Fraudster Marcus Ball's case has fallen flat on its face before it even started, LOL.

After Boris Johnson's Lawyers challenged the case and said it was a politically motivated attack, Judges at the High court have looked at it and ruled earlier today that Boris Johnson has no case to answer to. Judges have thrown the case out where it belongs, in the bin!

Maybe the public are quite capable of making their own decisions about the accuracy of politicians statements .

Boris Johnson is Eton educated and has a highly distinguished career behind him. If the public were not confident in his abilities he would hardly be as popular as he is. He did a great job as mayor of London and even managed to attract Labour voters.

Marcus Ball is simply an attention seeker and would appear to have a number of failed businesses behind him. His use of crowd funding to fund his personal expenses is highly questionable.

Maybe we should be considering discipling the Judge who let it get past the first stage .

Cases such as these make a mockery of the judicial process though they do say the law is an ass.

Disciple? Well if the case had gone further I would have been more than happy to venerate the district judge

Why is the law an ass if it is being tested for its merits? The district court judge passed it up to the high court as they felt unable to throw it out in the lower court. Quite democratic actually!

Do you understand the process of law? You know, really understand it as a process, or are you just repeating what the daily male tells you? The law is not an ass and is quite finely honed and nuanced which is probably why old slapdash Boris doesn't tend to agree with it or regard it as thoughtfully as someone like him should.

How many times has Boris been sacked for lying both in print and in politics?

Is that the sort of success you aspire to?

However I am sure that most members of the public are able to make their own assessment of the creditability of any politician.

We have to make decisions every day in life to assess the creditability of information provided to us.

We hardly need the advise or opinion of Marcus Ball.

Campaign slogans and lies that get repeated often enough that they are perceived as truth, are different to random everyday assessments of people. We also know that people with authority are more credible and their instructions are followed more unquestionably by people.

Of this case had gone to court, the judgement and opinions of the judges would have been all anyone with an openmind need to have followed, rather than anyone else. Surely the time to argue about their validity was during the election campaign , not three years after the event.

I can only repeat that the general public are not stupid and are quite capable of assessing the creditability of any politician."

The general public are not stupid?

Actually some are (some are also very intelligent).

What the leave campaign did was to try and make out that experts (people with training, specialist knowledge) knew less than the bloke in weatherspoons. Anti intellectuallism, next step will be book burning.

"Seems the Liar and Fraudster Marcus Ball's case has fallen flat on its face before it even started, LOL.

After Boris Johnson's Lawyers challenged the case and said it was a politically motivated attack, Judges at the High court have looked at it and ruled earlier today that Boris Johnson has no case to answer to. Judges have thrown the case out where it belongs, in the bin!

Yep...another lying scumbag gets away with it again! Proved the point yet again that some members of the population are very very blinkered and are willing to look the other way rather than confront their own prejudices - reminds me of a certain time in history that we have been commemorating recently.

It's almost ironic that some on here are zealous idealogues of the daily mail and its constant ranting on about family values, integrity and trust in our public institutions and our politicians etc and still refuse to accept that Boris is a man who has consistently lied to his wife, various employers and his own governing ministerial bosses..

"They do day that the law is an ass. This case is the proof.

Any competent judge would have thrown the application out. It makes a mockery of the judicial process.

When a person electioners they do not act in an official capacity and hence cannot breach misconduct laws.

It wasn't an election

BoZo was in office at the time

Your argument is nonsense"

Indeed. And when asked, a spokesman for the Mayor's office confirmed it was their policy. That is where the misconduct in public office allegation stems from.

From the BBC report

" The Uxbridge and South Ruislip MP's legal team argued that the offence of misconduct in public office was about the secret abuse of power and there was nothing secret about Mr Johnson's claim, which they said had been challenged during the campaign."

Which reads as he got off on where he lied, not if he lied....

The general public may be intelligent. They are also lazy and take shortcuts. You just have to see here how many threads are started by truths... But not the whole truths. Or truths out of context. Or repeat the truth (as per a newspaper paper) without spending any time thinking about it.
