"In order to become PM, that person needs to persuade the Queen that he or she can command a majority of MPs." Right enough. I wonder if HMQ would risk it though; saying "Sorry, but you won't do." I very much doubt she'd take it. That said, these days, who knows? | |||

He or she might get 14 days or so to do so. If he or she cannot, then she will turn to her advisors. In theory, she can dissolve Parliament and order an election - but that would be a radical choice. | |||
