"I'm not at all surprised he's been sacked. Frankly, he should never have been appointed in the first place. Good riddance." looks like he may have been the NSC leak in they huiwei affair... which then asks the question "will they charge him with an offence under the official secrets act".... the sacking letter from may to williamson is scathing.....

He certainly deserves to be formally tried! How many other Ministers are going to fall in the next week or two? Transport Secretary...?" we all know grayling is inept.... but what williamson is accused of is way beyond unforgivable... there is going to be huge pressure for him to lose his ministerial pension, his whip, and for him to resign his seat altogether if there is enough evidence to sack him, if it were any other civil servant they would have the CPS hanging over them right now... I can see how either williamson or someone in his inner circle doesn't have a "official secrets act" charge coming....

"Theresa may stated in parliament, referring to julian Assange "no one is above the law" yet now Williamson appears to be found out, she said the matter was now closed!! Ffs!! " Scotland Yard said they wont be investigating the matter, that it's a case for the cabinet and the National Security Council.

"The failure lies with May’s systematic failure of judgement. This guy’s character was readable through his idiotic Twitter posts. I really can’t see May struggling in for much longer. It gets worse day by day." The trouble is she’s got the blinkers on so tightly that she can’t see what a treacherous bunch of misfits she has empowered....there’s a good reason she’s known as the maybot and its not because of her ability to reflect upon her past mistakes! I mean for gods sake her husband has to choose her clothes for her!

"Man did wrong, should be prosecuted under the official secrets act. May though is an utter idiot to allow huawei near the 5G network, cannot trust that company due to its close ties with the chinese government. Would you let a foreign country have automatic access to montior your population? Duh!" I see the irony in that statement due to links to with other foreign intelligence agencies

Some of the crap he has spouted sounds like he's reading some gung ho claptrap from the middle of the 17th century.. He's finished with what he did and the police should be involved unless your OK with the official secrets act being broken without recourse?

OK.. | |||

Seems pretty justified that he should have the book thrown at him, otherwise any Minister will feel they can discuss whatever they want to with whomever they wish.

" He was irresponsible but he has not broken the official secrets act" erm.... hate to break this to you.. anything said and information given in a national security council meeting is top secret... and anyone remotely close to that meeting, preparing notes ect would have to have signed the official secrets act! the problem is.. is this had come from a civil servant, they would have been sacked... and police would have been investigated... this has happened in the past when civil servants have given secrets to journo's and in one case an mp. so you can't have one rule for them and one for everyone else....

"He has not apoerently only reporting what the BBC said earlier and they should know.Do not know the full detail bit no doubt we will all find out tomorrow. If you think about he has broken cabinet rules but he has not talked about anything that needs to be a secret. We will know about 5G it is not a knew bomb or such like" what part of "the leak came from a national security council meeting" are you not understanding..... there are only 4 ministers plus prime minister, dept prime minister and their perm secs in that meeting... home sec, foreign sec, defence sec and chancellor its not a big circle of people..... of course if he wants to try and convince everyone he is innocent, then i look forward to all the legal cases for slander... and his appearance at the employment tribunal for wrongful dismissal.....

"We will know about 5G it is not a knew bomb or such like" Your right, it is not like a new bomb, a new bomb if used would be able to destroy a part of the country if it had a viable delivery system. 5G will withing months of rolling out be the carrier that controls virtually the whole country and if switched off or ordered to will be able to switch off every smart device or every system with a smart controller in the country (and maybe further afield) including civil aircraft in flight. So as you suggest, no need to worry. After all foreign powers with that sort of power would never use it or threaten to use it for its own gain. All we have to do is look at President Trump and Putin for proof, neither of those 2 men would use any lever available to them to gain an advantage... No, something does not sound quite right there, if only I could put my finger on whatever it is...

"Alternative rumour - it's a fit up organised by May to (a) distract from the current shitty mess she's in (b) get rid of one possible threat and install someone she has more control over (c) attempt to show she's strong and in control (d) hide that husband is the leak and Huwawai has bunged him squillions in a secret bank account." "Whatever company is used to do this the same risks do apply as a hacker could do it.The only way to stay safe is have no 5 or 4g networks" There is a lot of truth in what you say. But current circulating information (I do not know if it is US negative propaganda or not) is that Hauwei acts as an agent of the Chinese government and implants firmware tracker programs in all their hardware. If this is true then I for one would not let them anywhere near our infrastructure. But then seeing as we are leaving the EU and need to find new partners to replace the ones we are fucking off then it may be a great political move. (Not one I would make tho. But then I am a lot more untrusting than most when it comes to our national security.)

"And gets the sack himself for being a threat to national security! What a tosser." More like sacked for being a threat to PMTM. It appears, Sedwell had already decided he was guilty before the investigation was held. Also in a clear breach of protocol, Sedwell was a member of the NSC and thus a suspect however he conducted the inquiry. And if there's any evidence why not a Police investigation and prosecution?
