Corbyn refusing to attend dinner with Trump

Is this just disrespectful?

Or is it because he believes the story that Trump likes to grab c**ts and he is scared?

If you don't respect someone, it's honest to make this clear publicly. I think it's unwise to invite Trump here atm, whilst there's great distaste for him.

No.

Corbyn, Cable and Bercow all turned down invitations.

Tells you Corbyn as PM won't play the America's bitch role, not so long as that vulgar cretin Trump rules the roost anyway.

Everyone sits down with terrorists in the end. Usually after huge loss of life. Corbyn prefers to skip the bloodshed bit in the middle.

Rewind to 2001 and could you predict the US sitting down to talk with the Taliban?

Well if you are going to make that comparison then trump sitting down with Kim thing whatsit is the same isn't it ?

So why not corbyn and Trump LOL.

Personally can't stand the man, just a sleazy slug with weird hairdo but he is the elected POTUS so I guess we just have to suck it up and hope he is not re elected. No worse than inviting the Chinese Bloke is it. He presides over a regime that is imprisoning 10s of 10000s of muslims to solve his problems.

Really can't see the difference. It's just a case of keep your friend close, keep your enemies closer.

Whatever ones opinion of Donald Trump - the man - he is still the President of the United States of America, as elected by the people of America, and our greatest ally and so must be afforded the same respect etc that anyone holding that office should be entitled to.

What Corbyn is actually doing - without realising it - is making it perfectly clear to absolutely everyone that he is entirely unfit to be our Prime Minister - especially given the sorts of people with whom he has fraternised with in the past.

nope... he is not going for the same reason that for example john bercow has said he is not going, and vince cable has said he is not going... and 150 mp's on all sides have written to the speaker asking him not to allow him to speak to both houses...

its because of his immigration policies and his attempt at a muslim ban, its because of his border policies of separating children from parents, its because of his attitudes to women and people of colour, its because of his alt right tendancies, its because of his retweeting of "britain first" material, thus giving it some kind of legitamacy... and when called on tweeting britain first tosh, he reply was to double down, not apologise and say people here should deal with our own issues.....

so.... yeah, maybe those are a few of the reasons....

Just last week he was alleging the UK conspired with Obama to spy on him.

I love this Trump has made much mileage in being disrespectful, sayin it like it is, keepin it real etc etc

But when follow their conviction they're accused of being disrespectful.

Maybe if Trump respected his office, social norms and diplomacy he'd be greeted universally!

Why is it that when it's the EU, we need to fight off the evil oppressors who are telling us what to do, and when it's Trump, who'll drive a far harder bargain and do far more damage in a trade deal to this country, we have to kiss his arse?

Pathetic double standard.

Corbyn said ages ago he would not attend, I think it was a bit naive and a mistake but that's him..

Not heard of a response yet to Trumps claim that Corbyn wanted to meet which sounds a bit of a strange thing to ask for given he knows Trumps petulance at any criticism and was bound to say no..

Why didn't he mention that he asked for a meeting with Trump?

This failure to disclose adds to the suspicion that he is economic with the truth and unfit to hold office. After all, the proposal to meet was announced by Trump.

If Corbyn announced that he did not want to attend the state dinner as a protest against Trump, the person, in order to avoid adding to Trump's legitimacy BUT JC had asked to talk to the President as the leader of the opposition and PM in waiting, then he would have appeared principled yet open to doing business.

This is why the centre ground will never trust him.....he spends more time pandering to the left and not representing the interests of the rest.

Javid previously has criticised Trump for endorsing "vile, hate-filled, racist" rhetoric. But he's not alone in the Cabinet in having rebuked Trump. Johnson called his ignorance stupefying and he was "unfit to be president". Hunt has snapped back at him, too, on the NHS.
